Popped Collars

Does anyone actually understand why people are popping their collars? Don't these people deserved to be kicked in the nuts for this stupid trend?

U2democrat 08-03-2005 07:24 AM

I went to an extremely preppy, yet public high school and all the guys popped their polo collars like it was nothing. :tsk:

Palace_Hero 08-03-2005 07:24 AM

Does that mean a collar standing upright? If so its only cool when I do it.

impy13 08-03-2005 07:25 AM

I liked you already, randhail, but my respect for you has gone up ten fold just because of this thread.

Anyone in a pink shirt with a popped collar is an automatic douchebag.

JessicaAnn 08-03-2005 07:25 AM

This may be an urban legend, but I heard that it means you're looking for sex. If someone comes up to you and puts your collar down, they will have sex with you.

Only the Fonz can pull it off

WildHoneyAlways 08-03-2005 07:27 AM

^ I've never heard that one JA. :hmm:
There are very few people who can pull off this look. Most end up looking like douchebags like imp13 said.

I've got nothing against pink shirts though.

Thanks for the support.

The one thing worse than the pink shirt is the people with 2 polo shirts on and both collars popped. First off, why would you wear 2 polo shirts? I just don't get it.

WildHoneyAlways 08-03-2005 07:32 AM

Are the 80's back and someone didn't tell me?

randhail 08-03-2005 07:34 AM

The essence of a douchebag:

Do you have any idea how offensive that may came across? That was worse than my generalisation about Scottish people and alcoholism, and that was atleast funny.

phanan 08-03-2005 07:55 AM

Please tell me this isn't making a comeback.

Palace_Hero 08-03-2005 07:56 AM

It's been popular for a good 2 years now in Australia.

which I (a Scotsman and living in Scotland), for the record, wasn't offended by. There was truth in your funny comment.

Palace_Hero 08-03-2005 08:26 AM

Thanks for that. All I did was tweak a Simpsons joke anyway!

Though it is water under the bridge now and does no one any help arguing whether it was offensive. All I'm saying as this was a malicious comment that I'm definately offended by.

U2MaNaIcWeIdO 08-03-2005 08:28 AM

I've never understand this trend...it's just as bad as any of the other stupid trends over the years. It make you look like more of a jerkwad than a douchebag.

Palace_Hero 08-03-2005 08:30 AM

Anyone who likes American television programming is automatically a jerkwad/douchebag.

Can no one see how I'd be condemned if I said that with any degree of seriousness?
