I have a code for today. I took a look-see around at noon, 2000 in que for the last show on 12/16 , so i went to a midweek show and there were 900 in front of me. I didnt get in during my lunch break. I tried the midweek again at 2pm break. got right in. Plenty of p4's at face value$140. P3 and p2 were available at considerable up charge. Some p1's were available at around $1k. No GA at all.

You made 1000 threads, so now I don't know where to post. I'm old and confused.

If I do stay in Vegas for like 3-5 days what the hell should we do? Get tickets to Penn and teller? I do love Penn and Teller.

Penn & Teller
Piff the Magic Dragon
Moonlight Bunny Ranch
2 U2 shows.

There's your 5 nights.

Penn & Teller are playing Sat and Sun when I'm there, but at the same time as U2 plays, so that's gonna be hard.

My kid really loved Penn and Teller’s fool us so we might have to go there 12/1. Kid’s sleep schedule is going to be messed up. :crack:

Since the husband has never been, and I’ve only ever been once, we’re going to turn it into a mini-vacation and try and do a full-on Vegas experience and be there for a few days, maybe do a desert day trip, see a cirque, go out to thr Fruit Loop, etc. Also, we don’t gamble.

We want to do a classic/memorable/only-in-Vegas Vegas hotel, and will use some of our points to bring the price down. It’s sort of come down to Bellagio vs Venetian, and as great as Wynn seems, it’s just too expensive (unless someone can convince me it’s actually worth it). We are leaning Venetian, since fake gondolas are hilarious and the food seems good there (important).

Do any Vegas experts have thoughts?

Wynn is the best property in the city, bar none. It also super expensive - but it's a step above everywhere else.

I'd give a consideration to the Cosmo - provided you can get a room with a terrace with a fountain view.

I'd consider Bellagio to be more classic Vegas vibe - even though both properties are beautiful (and Venetian rooms might actually be slightly nicer).

The fountains are an iconic Vegas feature, the hotel was featured in Oceans 11, it's a Steve Wynn design, dead center Strip, etc. etc.

But yea - you can't go wrong with either.

Where will the band be staying? Like 40 miles out of the city somewhere?

I would typically guess The Wynn, as they have a separate entrance for the famous and what not - but you would imagine Venetian wouldn't be thrilled by that. So my guess is they'll rent a house somewhere and have BBQs with Floyd Mayweather, Marky Mark and Wayne Newton.

i've stayed at the bellagio twice, in both their basic desert view room and in a fancy fountain/strip view room (back in the good old days when slipping the check-in clerk a $20 would get you a nice upgrade), and the basic room at venetian.

i felt like the venetian was the better hotel overall but the walk from the strip to get to the room was a little absurd. the bellagio was a much shorter walk through the casino to the room elevators. the venetian is much closer to the sphere than the bellagio is. and there's a really good italian restaurant by the gondola canal in the shopping area.

the pool at the venetian is amazing, i spent an entire afternoon drinking mimosas there. it may not be open anymore by the time U2 is in town though.

the bellagio obviously had the best view in the room overlooking the fountain (be warned the bang-bang water cannon sound of the fountains *will* wake you up at 12 noon sharp regardless of your hangover level), and the botanical garden area in the lobby is always stunning -- btw i highly recommend everyone go see the botanical gardens in the bellagio lobby, it's totally free for everyone to enter regardless of if you stay or gamble at the bellagio and it's a fantastic way to kill an hour and get some great photos without spending any money.

loads of fancy designer stores that sell every overpriced luxury brand thing you can think of in both hotels. i never bought anything but it's fun to go in and pretend you're rich and look at shit/people-watch.

also i was offered cocaine right outside the front door of the bellagio both times i stayed there, which did not happen at the venetian. whether that is a pro or a con is up to you.

You did have a t-shirt on that said SELL ME COCAINE to be fair.

That Fri-Sat wkd Columbus day -- I'm not going to do much better than 600-700 bucks for 2 nights am I? Flamingo for Wed, Thursday of course was like 250 total. What a steal for the weekday show.

Once I saw they were doing Wednesdays, I immediately decided to shoot for that (only doing 1 show) as it would clearly be the least expensive option for hotels.
Checking in Tuesday, checking out Friday morning. Avoiding Friday & Saturday night rates.
