Have any of the u2 gigs been that special in Dublin?apart from maybe slane and the point depot one in 89? By special I mean different?
ive done 360 and Joshua tree tour and the actual gig isn't any different to any other shows I go to on the tour. What is special is Dublin for that weekend u2 are playing. It's like a u2 convention of fans from all over the world. Can't beat it

you're absolutely right, there isn't any difference in the shows themselves.
i'm watching on saturday and the few times they could have done something a little different, they didn't. total missed opportunity. the planes were cool though.
I can see fans from all over the world pretty much at any show.
i've just never subscribed to the "you have to see U2 in dublin. it's so bucket list'y" mantra.

I agree that the show had nothing special.
I had to travel abroad to see them because they were not playing in Switzerland and I thought that would be THE chance to see them in Dublin.
I was hoping for something special but we had nothing but the planes (which was awesome ...)
When they started Bad and not ASOH I believe that I heard a roar of disappointment around me (maybe that was just me ?) ...
So the show was cool but it was probably exactly the same as anywhere else.
What is probably different however was the very cool atmosphere in Dublin before the show (and the night before). Pubs are having U2 specials everywhere, you meet fans every 10 meters ... that was worth the trip !

I did want to hear ASOH but if it ment dropping bad then bad wins every day of the week. Playing both then that would have been brilliant. Didn't want them to drop bad for it so I was happy

Last European show for me, was lucky enough to be in the red zone. So neat so close to the B stage, great energy and the bad were great tonight, especially Bono. Too bad it was identical setlist wise to Dublin but I'm over it.
Bad was AMAZING tonight. The first four songs in general we're just killer, and then of course TJT openers brought the house down.
Agreed about Patti Smith Headache, but the band seem to really like her.
