I think it was somewhat loosely related to the Drowning Man melody itself, but definitely a Drowning Man snippet.

Is snippeting Drowning Man a bit on the nose when the song is dedicated to Houston?

I really appreciate that! But it's not all about me. I would never want other people to miss out.

Update from the backseat: I am totally silent in the backseat and the two of them are talking about stupid shit and I refuse to participate. So we get to a railroad crossing where the gate was coming down and my friend considered going around it. I yelled at her really loudly. This is not going well.

I couldn't stay!! I would have been stranded or gotten in a huge screaming fight and that's not the way I want to have a U2 experience.

Don't think so, they ended a few shows with Vertigo. I attended one and it was played from the main stage

Okay, when is the next show? New song out tomorrow. If they don't play Best Thing at the next show I'm going to start side-eyeing them pretty hard.

They shall feel my side-eye. And fear my side-eye.

Less on the nose than Crowded House dedicating Fall at Your Feet to Christchurch.

Oohh. Maybe.

Driving "friend": wow! There is barely any traffic! What a quick ride.

Me, through gritted teeth: THAT'S BECAUSE THERE ARE STILL 40,000 PEOPLE WHO HAVEN'T LEFT!!!!

If I said I didn't care that we left, I couldn't be mad. But I made it clear I didn't want to leave so now I am free to bitch it up!!

Yep. Initially I wondered if it was Drowning Man or a direct usage of Isaiah 40:31, which is where the "rise up on wings like eagles" lyric comes from. But then he kept going with the "hold on" and "not grow weary" lines.

I hope that when U2 are in New Orleans they play a Hurricane Harvey tribute set.

Drowning Man
Walk to the Water
Electrical Storm
Endless Deep
Summer Rain

It'll go down really well, I promise.

As an American, I will be irritated if they come back here again before going to Australia. It's an indoor tour, they can play there outside of the November-March summer season. The tour is rumored to be starting back up in April/May. I'm sure it'll be Europe, then North America, then Australia late in 2018 or early 2019. Personally, I think they should wait to bring SOE to the US until 2019, because God knows we've had our fair share of shows. When they announced this 2nd US leg of the JT Tour, I was almost annoyed by it. Like "ugh, they're playing in Indianapolis... now I HAVE to go, I can't just let U2 come within 2 hours of my home and not go!" My credit card balance and my wife didn't appreciate it, but fuck it... YOLO!!

NJ2 as well.
