The old, lazy, wealthy man's tour

The friendliest place on the web for anyone that follows U2.

Paul McGuinness hated commies. Maybe now they'll go to other countries.

It probably costs lots of money and takes lots of time to move a stage from Dubai to India to Singapore to Indonesia to Philippines to Thailand to China to Hong Kong to South Korea to Japan. None of these countries can have the equipment trucked from one city to the next . They have to truck equipment from the venue to a boat or airplane, take it to the next island, put the equipment back on another truck, then take it to the next venue. Which results in more days between gigs.

But lots of other bands, even the ultimate touring dinosaurs, the Rolling Stones, did an Asian leg leg year. They went to Dubai, 3 shows at the Tokyo dome, shanghai, Singapore and Macau. Lots of acts go there now. U2 have always been late to the party. They didn't even go to South America until 1998.

In eastern Europe they would struggle to sell tickets at 150EUR. They've gone as close as they can this time with Berlin and will probably do a token outdoor show next year in Gdansk or Warsaw. A series of shows out there? There's not and never has been enough cash in it:|

If they do stadiums next year they can drop the ticket prices. The Stones did expensive arenas shows then dropped the average ticket prices for the stadium show.
