damn it. I'm sick of all this secrecy by Live Nation and the record label. It's pissing me off!!!!

Exactly. After 3 days since the original announcement it really seems like the entire U2 camp have gone to ground. Not a reassuring word from anyone - fellow bandmates, PRs, McG, Willie Williams, Friday, Sam O etc. Equally not a word of bad news either. U2 have been a big part of my life for the past 23 years and I make no apologies about giving a s%$@ about Bono's health. Please someone say something.

Word! :hug:

Btw, I have tix to SLC, Anaheim, and Oakland, and close friends flying in from all over the world for those shows...so, yeah, I'm anxious about the tour as well. I'd just like to hear he's ok and that Anaheim is postponed....the rest can wait a few more days, cuz there is more time between Anaheim and Denver, and maybe he'll be ok by then if it wasn't too serious.:hmm:

Anyone who wasn't digging Bono's choice of apparel earlier in the tour certainly can't be too thrilled about this.

Well, Gavin did tweet "Rise" this morning. I interpreted that to mean that Bono was getting out of bed. :wink:

I would love it if Paul made a statement that included our favorite phrase:

"I know all fans have had many questions, primarily - IS BONO OKAY?" And then of course, tell us he is. :wink:

I guess that's what it'll take. I'm a bad, bad fan because I have faith that he's fine due to the fact that he's in the hands of one of the top surgeons in the world, and Paul Mc didn't tell us otherwise. I'll separate myself from the good, hand-wringing fans, and go stand in the bad fan corner. :sad: :wink:

Sorry, but no one is asking for that type of detail. Making a statement as simple as "Bono is fine" would be more than sufficient.
They really should have said that initially cause it was evident from the statement that he had had the surgery earlier in the day so they would have known by then his condition. I guess it was a given that he's doing as well as can be expected right after surgery. What they could never guess was how he would feel a few days after the surgery, so an update on his condition would be good although they know if they update his condition they also have to talk about the tour and maybe they're not ready to throw in the towel yet. Bono's a tough guy, he's probably laying in bed saying "I think I can, I think I can." I see this as "maybe" a good sign that we have not heard any further news yet.

Paul only speaks of the tour, the fans, the crew. Oh, and he DOES say that the surgery was earlier that morning, meaning Friday, for those saying it could have happened earlier. But no, he says nothing about Bono's well being, it's all business, which is his job. Just sayin' it would be nice to hear "and he's in recovery doing well."

U2.com news page is where the "Bono will spend the next few days there, before returning home to recuperate" can be found. It was 2 posts BEFORE Paul's statement.

U2.com > News > Bono Undergoes Surgery

Bono has today undergone emergency back surgery for an injury sustained during tour preparation training. He was admitted to a specialist neuro surgery unit in a Munich hospital, and is under the care of neuro surgeon Prof. Dr. Jorg Tonn and Dr Muller Wohlfahrt. Bono will spend the next few days there, before returning home to recuperate.

Once his condition has been assessed further, a statement will be made regarding the impact on forthcoming tour dates.

What statement by Paul? All he talked about was the tour that was disrupted because of Bono's emergency surgery and that after his condition was assessed they'd provide more information.

The statement about Bono recuperating at home was not attributed to anyone, didn't know that was a Paul statement.

You're right, my bad. I just went and reread the statement over, and he didn't say anything about that. I did read it somewhere over the past few days though, so it must have gotten mixed up in my mind, and I mistakenly attributed it to PM. My apologies.

I still think though that if the surgery had been anything but routine, he would have said something. He does say "We will make plans to reinstate these dates as soon as possible" and to me that says that Bono will be fit to resume his duties at some point, so it still amounts to "he's fine."

:lmao::love:

This place would explode.

Hopefully in the next few days we will hear more about Bono's condition. :hug::hug::hug:

Until then major patience. :waiting::wink:

VP. :hug::kiss::cling:

I thought that doctors were good enough to come up with a prognostic before a surgery of any kind is done of how much time a patient can expect to need to heal of a particular injury.

So for instance,last Friday morning, the doctors could have said to Bono and his entourage before the surgery "If we go ahead with this surgery,and that the surgery goes well,you'll need x amount of weeks to recuperate."There for,Mcguinness could have more precise in his message that was post on U2.com...which was done after the surgery.

Ok, so it WAS posted on U2.com, Paul didn't say it though....soooo....we are BOTH right?! :hug:

Glad you're taking this as a sure thing. I'm sure it is, and hope you're right!

Me too. I'm not positive it is but I do hope you're right. I was much more optimistic over the weekend, but the deafening silence today got me worried. Although it probably is that they will want to talk about the tour at the same time and they just haven't worked things out yet regarding postponements, contracts etc.

Okay, so that's where I got it from. Thanks for the clarification, and sorry for the misattribution on my part. But coming from U2.com, that's still official even though it didn't come directly out of Paul's mouth, no?

Jem! :kiss: Are you here to save me from the public stoning? :uhoh: :wink:

That's what I was wondering a page or so ago, if the delay in an announcement had to do with contractual red tape?

It's all good. :)

I suspect that that's the case, they're probably waiting till they have more solid tour info. They might think (wrongly) that people are more concerned about that.

It's not necessarily secrecy. I think they don't have answers yet. And when they have answers they will tell us.

Frustrating? Sure but patience and prayer for Bono's full recovery is the only thing that will serve us best.
