I hope not...can you imagine the security nightmare this would be!

As much as I would really like to see them, the security would be insane. It says their trip ends on July 8, so I would imagine they would be on either the east or west coast on that date. They typically tour from coast to coast. It is an exciting thing for me as a Canadian that they are deciding to come here on their first royal trip as a married couple (I am a royal family nerd:shifty:) They are our monarchy too after all!

I think the Dutch royal family is a grand ole waste of public money. But to each their own ofcourse.

I hear you! The monarchy is just more of a symbol for Canadians. That, plus the queen's face is on our money!:crack:

I am more of a geek for the royal weddings and things like that. If the monarchy were to crumble, I wouldn't lose sleep.

I certainly wouldn't want them to show up. And it has nothing to do with them personally. For some reason, it just irritates me when super famous people show up at one of the concerts with their entourage and turn it into a publicity thing for themselves. It's like, "Oh hey look at me, I'm at the U2 concert!" :| Like Paris Hilton was supposedly at the Rose Bowl show (not that I'm in any way comparing her to the Royal Family. I am not)...do you honestly think she understands what any of the songs are about? Probably not.

It's a rock concert, for fucks sake. Not your publicity stunt.

/rant

Sorry if that was an incredibly bitchy thing to say.

They won't be there. They leave on the 8th.

Bono doesn't help by pointing out the famous people who are in attendance. As much as I love him, that is one thing I could live without.:crack:

Yeah I know, even though you already said they were leaving on the 8th, it was an opportunity to get that rant out  I guess I should have said I'm glad they won't be there or something.

And I know...that is one of the few things that he does that annoys me. I like his speeching and rambling :)reject:) but when he does the name dropping thing I'm like, be quiet boy.

Well here she actually has SOME sort of a function, but it's not much for the amounts she gets paid. Of our tax money.

It's one thing to point out when Bill Clinton or Kofi Annan are at shows (Elevation closer???), but yeah, the celebrity thing annoys me, too.

I like that Prince had the balls to have Kim Kardashian to leave the stage, but he did bring her up in the first place, and asked her back up later, so...:down::down:

Yeah, people like that are public figures who've had some importance in the social fabric of wherever they happened to be playing (he mentioned Mikhail Gorbachev was at the Moscow show).

At least he didn't say "Paris Hilton in the house" or something. I'm sure he thinks she's a massive loser

I am not a fan of monarchies (it's mostly a religious thing), but the rich and celeb-u-tard-ocracy that we have in the U.S. isn't much better at this point.

There are so many things about the US that I don't understand...

but that is a topic for another thread.:D

I love the US. I just don't understand things like healthcare there. I have seen commercials where they say "you don't want our healthcare to be like Canada's." I'd love to understand that. My healthcare has included a private plane for my son to be flown to Toronto when they couldn't treat him here, without us paying a penny.

 That's one of the many things I don't understand either :slant:

I don't like discussing stuff like this, makes me uncomfortable. Even though we agree, I feel like someone will come in here and see it and hate me forever or something!

Ha! It's probably quite safe in here. The real capitalist zealots don't want to travel to a Socialist Mecca like Canada (and heaven forbid they speak French there, too.).

The Free Your Mind threads are where you need thick skin.

I've only ever been to Vancouver twice before, so I can't wait to see much more of Canada (at least the cities) this summer.

I wouldn't touch FYM with a ten foot pole :yikes:

The only thing I don't like about Canada is the cold...cold weather is like a Dementor to me.

YES. Which is why it's safe for me in the summer.

Thank you, U2, for playing Canada in the summer. I would still wait outside for you in the winter, but I would probably end up severely damaged in some way.

Mark, perhaps we can discuss it sometime. You seem like you wouldn't be mean, right?:shifty:

Vancouver is the most beautiful city I have ever seen. I lived there for 2 years, and I still miss it. Toronto is fun, but very industrialized. However, there is so much to see and do. From what I have heard about Montreal, it is the perfect blend of city and greenspace. It seems very beautiful. Winnipeg is like any other city, nothing really outstanding, but it does have some nice things to see, like The Forks. However, I won't have time to see it this visit.

You should come see Thunder Bay sometime. The drive between Duluth and the border is known worldwide for the beautiful scenery right along the shores of Lake Superior. :love:It is breathtaking. We never complain about being bored on the drive.
