Just booked three nights at the Days Inn- after coming home late from work no less. Easy as pie. Don't know what everyone was worried about.:D

I figured I could just fly out to Minny right after the Jersey show. I'll just use Friday to check out whatever the Twin Cities has to offer.:hmm:

My total cost is around $500 with my AAA. That's right on par with most of the other hotels I'll be staying at.

I even requested the Days Inn to give me a room that overlooks the stadium.

I am going shopping at the Albertville Outlet Mall. I hear it is great, but I feel too guilty when I go with my kids to drag them there! We should be getting there at about 3:00 pm I would hope. We are driving up from Canada, but I think we might stay in Duluth for a night to relax!

I love Minneapolis, and our family goes there about twice a year! My kids adore the Mall of America!:D

Seeing stuff around the Twin Cities generally involves a car. The light rail still only runs from the Mall of America to the airport to DT Mpls. I don't find our buses that easy to figure out. The area is very bikeable though, the most bikeable in the U.S. (we compete back and forth with Portland).

In Downtown, I'd suggest checking out the Guthrie Theatre (gorgeous, interesting, modern building) and the Stone Arch Bridge over the Mississippi. I'm hoping there may be a Twins game the Thurs. or Friday before the concert; Target Field is fun.

South of DT the light rail stops by Minnehaha Falls--a nice park with a creek that flows into the Mississippi, and a great restaurant--Sea Salt.

There's plenty to do; it all depends on what you'd like and what the weather is doing.

Delta just announced it is cancelling its flights from Minneapolis to Thunder Bay. Not that I like Delta at all.....but that sure cuts down my travel options. :|

Oh no they aren't because when Delta bought NWA they promised they wouldn't cut MSP service.

I do not like Delta, but I really hated NWA.

Well, they did. It was on our news last night! Liars!

I have not flown with them since they switched. NWA left us standed in Minni for 3 nights, with no compensation. Thank goodness for flight insurance. They covered hotel and meals to the tune of $900! Of course, we did pick a nice hotel, the Embassy Suites! We also ate really well too. If we were stuck, at least we were going to have fun. However, hubby and I both lost 3 days wages! Damn Northwest!:madwife:

Yikes! :/

I haven't flown them (well, Northwest) since the merge either, but mostly because they're never the cheapest anymore...especially since Southwest came in!

Actually, most airlines won't charge for checked bags if the flight is international. Flying back into the US is a different story. Delta charged me $25 for my bags when I flew from TO to Chi-Town earlier this month.

My gripe is that Southwest doesn't provide flights to places like New Jersey, where my parents live. I have to pay out the nose for Continental/AA flights whenever I visit them.

I called to confirm my reservation day before yesterday knowing that they must have been swamped the other day, and she actually said she could NOT FIND my reservation after asking for my name and conf. # a few times... :panic: after about 10 mins on hold she came back and said OH ok found it. :faint: I actually asked about views  and she loled and said NONE of their rooms have stadium views, only front street and back parking lot views because the stadium is to the side of them, but she could request the rooms be close to the stadium. yeah at least we can sleep knowing we're a few yards closer!

Good thing they found the reservation......

Yes, but I wanted to just double check with a human being. (who could not find it at first!) Even when I gave her the confirmation number from my email, but it all ended well. I had also called though because I had forgotten to make a request with my reservation that I meant to do the first time.

Maybe you can open the window and listen to rehearsal in the shower.

The Days Inn said that the prices don't come up in their own system for another week or 2. However, she knew it was going to be what was on the website! I was also told that they had not called the people on the waiting list yet because they can't reserve the rooms from their end until mid August. I took my name off the waiting list, but they are holding a block of rooms for those still on the list.

Wow, that's a whole lot of confusing crap! Why do they say they can't reserve the rooms and don't know the prices when we've already booked them?! Huh.

 That reminds me of when I was in Dublin last year, I stayed at this bed & breakfast about four blocks from Croke Park. I had a seat for the third (and final) show, so after some sightseeing in the city, I decided to rest in my room for the rest of the afternoon before walking to the stadium. Suddenly I started hearing I Will Follow. And I thought it was someone's radio at first, and then I realized my b&b host had opened up the windows of the living room upstairs which faced Croke Park, and in the afternoon, the wind carried the sounds over to the house. I ran out of my room to the living room, and stayed there to listen to the band rehearse.
