Oh, reservations. Didn't think of that before, but might be better. I will call them.

With the U2 to U2 is one option, but it's slow. However, it's also true that the damn S-Bahn screwed up and now the trains don't go as regularly. If you leave anywhere more east than Main Station for the stadium I would suggest taking some alternative, like the U2. Right now trains are packed more or less over the limit.

Helen, a day ticket costs €6.40 if I am not mistaken. It's good until 3am the next day. A one-way ticket costs €2.10. Three day tickets and such are around €15. But I think the bus drivers can only sell one-way and day tickets.

Thanks. I thought reservation was a good idea on a Friday night, especially if we want to sit in the garden. 20.30 should be fine,

Yes, u2tour.de informed about the train stuff. Since my hotel is directly at the s-bahn-station Savignyplatz, I will take the train, but I'll better leave earlier. No idea how we'll get back, but there will be a way

Thanks Leif! The one-way fare @ €2,10 sounds like my best option. That's cheap, it costs €2,90 to travel within the city limits of Kuopio!

Don't worry. The trains might not run that often, but they run all night long. And I guess there will be some extra trains.
It's extremely embarrassing what the S-Bahn management did. And now we have to put up with that situation at least until September. I'm glad I'm relatively independent of the lines that run only every 20 minutes.

It's cheap, indeed. Berlin is broke, but they pay a lot to subsidize the public transport. Which makes the situation with the S-Bahn even worse.

So how early are you thinking to going? Coz me and Hanna were hoping to have lunch around 11:00 before setting off, or is there a place near the stadium where we could have lunch?

No, you should have lunch somewhere in your area. Near the stadium there is not much.

I just ordered 200 red glow sticks.

K then!

Oh red glow sticks, I'll take 4! 2 for me and 2 for Hanna!

Have you seen any reliable weather reports about Saturday yet? It's gonna be warm but raining when I leave from Kuopio on Friday afternoon and sunny when I leave Helsinki!

This week should be hot. Don't know about the weekend. There is no reliable weather reports. It can rain in one part of the city while the sun shines in another part. But any predictions five days in advance are perfectly unreliable.

My prediction is it will be decent.

I think it will be hot.

Thanks, Leif.

How will the glow sticks be handled? Just distributed to GA people?

Yes, having lunch and then going to the stadium is a good idea. Let's talk about this when we meet on Friday, ok?

K, fine!

My bags are all but pakced minus a couple of toiletires! I'll have to leave home for Kuopio airport soon after 12:00 on Friday.

Will any shops be open on the Sunday? Coz they opened the shops in Copenhagen the Sunday of the show back in 2005.

In Germany every state has its own laws for when shops are allowed to open. In Berlin only six Sundays are allowed. But the shops within train stations are exempt. So there is a shop in Zoo Station which should be open.
Bakeries, Cafes and Souvenir shops should be open however.

The glow sticks are meant to be distributed everywhere in the stadium. Most are in GA area but some people will distribute them in their areas in the ranks. They even prepared a flyer and suggested to bundle them by ten. But I can't print all that paper.

OK, I finally found the right link with all the information regarding this action

So for Ultraviolet. Let's hope they play the song in Berlin

Seriously, what do we need the flyers for? I don't think it should be too complicated getting these things to work.

I don't know where to buy stuff like that but if you order another 200 red lights, I would pay them and take care of distributing them in or outside the stadium. I'd also try and bring some cord to bundle the lights.

Thing is we really need to have A LOT of lights to make that work. In Paris, obviously the fan action didn't work because there weren't enough lights and the stands were too far away. I don't think it's a good idea to have lights on the stands, they should be concentrated on GA and mostly inner circle, otherwise the effect will be lost.

Would be €13.10. Wanted to merge the two orders but I ordered with a guest account. Do you want me to order?

I guess it should be possible to get the information out that they are to be lighted shortly before Ultraviolet begins. I think they already had quite a lot in the GA area. So with the stands we have to see how that works out.

Regarding the reservation, I guess we won't be much more than ten right? I would then reserve tables for 10 to 15 people.

Yes, order, please, I give you the money in Berlin and gladly do my part in distributing the lights.

Yes, I think 10 is reasonable for the reservation.

Done and done!

I made the reservation for 8.30, if the weather is good outside, else inside. It's on my last name, Hinrichsen.

From u2tour.de:

Entrance 16.30
Snow Patrol: 19.00
U2: 20.45 Full daylight? This doesn't seem right.

Someone said the gate at the east side of the stadium will be opened slightly earlier. I don't know if that's true, but they did this 2005 in Vienna as well and also when I was at the Springsteen concert last week. I was at the gate that opened later because there wasn't such a long queue and still got into first row at the Boss show

No need for stress in regards to the golden circle, as we could see in Milan, even though people were crazy there.

And someone else said it might rain. Now what a surprise! A U2 concert in Germany wouldn't be the same without rain

Hm, it can't be ruled out. Though it's looking pretty good right now regarding the weather.
I can't tell whether the other information is reliable as I have no clue at all. Will be the first time for me.

Quarter to nine is early indeed. But wasn't it the same during Vertigo?

As far as I remember, during Vertigo they came on stage between 9 an 9.15.

In Milan, they came on stage at 9.15 and it was still daylight.

Should be dark by the time Ultraviolet starts.

As for the entrances: I know only the "big" entrance on the place in front of the stadium, where the columns are, but there should be another one as well.

Yeah, there is a number of entrances. But I don't know which ones are for what area.
Seeing as the stage will be located on the western side of the stadium I guess the east and south entrances will be for GA. East is the one with the symbols and west the one with the columns where the marathon runners enter.
