^ Mercy would actually be a phenomenal live track, especially in arenas. If it were a closing staple, it would eliminate the need for Bad.

Granted, I consider Bad to be their ultimate live track but Mercy's comes pretty close at capturing that sorta feel. Also, Mercy is a zillion times more interesting than these beach clips that have come up, so I wouldn't mind having it fill both the Bad void and take away a slot from an undeserving new album track.

mercy, a demo that has never been put on an album, or one of the top 5 live u2 songs of all time? that is not a tough decision. i like mercy, and understand your reasoning- but mercy as a closer would be such a dud, especially when compared to bad. not even in the same ballpark as bad. why anyone would want to eliminate bad, for any reason is beyond me.

i love bad live, but don't think its a great closer. there are lots of better songs for closers (not overall as live songs, but to close a show).

as for mercy vs. beach clips, i have no idea how someone can say that from the awful recordings.

Having listened to the previews this struck me right away

Breathe
Until The End Of The World
New Year's Day

after hearing the 30 secs tracks, I say there might be 2 ways:

01 - Magnificent
02 - Breathe

or

00 - FEZ (intro)
01 - GOYB
02 - Magnificent

One thing I can safely guess from the 30 second clips... "Fez-Being Born" and "Cedars of Lebanon" will NOT be played live.

Edge mentioned they tried to make an album that would work together as a cohesive whole, rather than a bunch of separate songs. Kinda like groups used to do. Maybe they are gonna play the entire album live, in order. :hmm:

Anyone with me on this? :hyper:

Fez-Being Born could very well become the new Zooropa or Acrobat...

 I wish!

After hearing the 30sec clips, I pictured NLOTH opening, probably followed by magnficent. After the Grammys though, I can see them openingwith GOYB, then maybe into NLOTH.

I also think it's too early to tell about CoL and Fez... The latter, especially, we don't have enough information on.

Based on the tiny bit we heard, I've thrown around the idea in my head of something like GOYB -> Fez, given the "let me in the sound" part... but it's juts too early to say imo.

I just found my copy of The Wanderer from the Johnny Cash tribute, and I was reminded of how good a show closer this could make. So, given that, let me see... [plus its late and I don't wanna do work]

It's still very hard...

01 - Get On Your Boots
02 - No Line on the Horizon
03 - Vertigo
04 - Stand Up Comedy
05 - Beautiful Day
06 - I'll Go Crazy if I Don't Go Crazy Tonight
07 - Sometimes You Can't Make It On Your Own
08 - New Year's Day
09 - Bad
10 - Breathe
11 - Sunday Bloody Sunday
12 - Bullet The Blue Sky
13 - With or Without You
14 - Pride (In The Name Of Love)
15 - Moment of Surrender
16 - Where The Streets Have No Name

17 - City of Blinding Lights
18 - Magnificent
19 - I Will Follow
20 - (wildcard)
21 - One
22 - Ceders of Lebanon
23 - The Wanderer

Nearly Every Night:

1. Track from 'Boy'
2. Track from 'October'
3. New Year's Day or Sunday Bloody Sunday
4. Pride or Bad
5. Streets
6. something else from JT
7. Track from 'Rattle & Hum'
8. One
9. something else from AB
10. Track from 'Zooropa'
11. Track from 'Pop'
11. Beautiful Day
12. Walk On
13. Vertigo
14. City Of Blinding Lights
15. No Line On The Horizon
16. Magnificent
17. I'll Go Crazy If I Don't Go Crazy Tonight
18. Moment Of Surrender
19. Get On Your Boots
20. Breathe or Stand Up Comedy

And then room for about four songs to rotate in. If they continue to ignore October/Pop/Rattle & Hum/Zooropa, then there's room for about 8 standards to creep their way in.

I think we can absolutely count on six songs every night from the new album along with Streets/One/Beautiful Day/Vertigo. That's ten songs guaranteed. Make it eleven or twelve if the band decides to have seven every night from NLOTH or if City becomes a staple which is likely.

gonna try this again...
