Yes, but who's going to play Mary Magdalene? I volunteer myself. I already know her two big songs!

i was under the impression that the next tour they were going to be experimenting with 3D images so that no matter where the audience sits in the arena/statdium the band will appear as if right in front of them at times. The same is true with the video screen animation and mind bending images that will appear to leap out towards the crowd and wow them during certain songs. I had thought originally they would employ this on the 360 tour, but apparently this wasn't ready yet.

Can you outsing Winona Ryder? If so, then you're hired. (low bar, I know)

*begins "shout out loud" dreaming

The next tour should consist off all b-sides & deep album cuts rarely or never played before, tour amphitheatres (no arenas/stadiums!), no publicity with tickets only sold to fanclub then remaining to gen. public. Now that would be much more epic than the claw...

Maybe next time, instead of playing in front of a screen, or below the screen, they could play above the screen ?

that's what I was thinking... a HUGE stage/screen, and just the audio things above or somewhere

well i've seen a video based stage a few years ago, but i don't know if it was LED. the artist was using Led curtains so maybe the stage was the same. it did look cool though. i thought for sure U2 would've utilized this on the new tour.

First of all, to see a band who does a great job with a 360 stage in the middle of the arena and still has great musician interaction, look no further than Metallica. I know they don't get much respect around here, but in my eyes they're true masters of what they do. Their show doesn't have the technology of a U2 show, but they still put on a hell of a show.

As for the future of U2 tours?

The Guerilla Tour. Similar to the Streets video. Not much technology involved: the band show up at a random place in your city with little advance warning and just play.

I know, I know. Never gonna happen...

My personal perception has to agree completely with that.

But I am wondering, I know it's early they just started but still: what's next? Can they ever Tour in an end-stage setup like they used to do previously? They succeeded in making the concert more intimate like this, which is a big achievement in these huge stadiums that are cold and ugly. I witnessed that even the concrete-ugly-cold monster of an Amsterdam Arena changed into a club-like place with a lot of atmosphere. It is clearly a step forward according to the band and also most of the audience. Not unimportant: the sound is better in this setup!

If they go back to end-stage performances it is a step back in audio quality, intimity, audience involvement, atmosphere.. But if they Tour next time with a "Claw 2.0" it might be concerned as not innovative and new anymore...And what about other bands? It is probably too expensive for any other band to Tour with 200 trucks around the world...

They seem to be progressing toward round/curvy shapes in the stage design on the last three tours, considering the more straight lined/square shapes from before.

A ball-shaped screen/stage (with the speakers mounted on the sides and on top) with the band in the middle. It can open a la Popmart lemon at the start of the show to reveal the band inside.

I like the idea that the band plays on the top of the claw. I can picture Edge flying down the slide, wheee.

Seriously, I'd like a mobile stage or something similar.

Ya got a point there.
A scary point at that too

BUT if that does not happen...
Next TOUR will be U2 flying around in a giant Zeppelin Balloon spaceship, above a city, playing music and videos and lights for FREE for everyone!!

I like the idea of a U2 aircraft carrier tour. Then they can anchor off the coasts of all of the countries they've never played around the world.

Plus, it would set up an epic pirate battle off the coast of Africa or the Malacca Straits.

It wouldn't surprise me to see U2 go with the opposite of a tour, as in performing in Vegas for a year or so and letting everyone come to them.

Hell, there are enough half-finished projects in Vegas that they could build their own U2-themed casino/hotel at this point (for the price of a few more Claws).

Get on it Mayor Goodman!

They can try the "slug" tour that was attempted by Pink Floyd and Radiohead. u2 may be able to pull it off.

It's like the CLAW, but bigger and covered by white tarp like a tent. Thousands of people inside. Cheaper than renting a venue.
