Well.. people seem to be divided on this.
If he is miming, I apologize for being ignorant about the matter. I hadn't known Bono had perhaps been miming for years. I mean it's obvious that some or all of their live songs since Zooropa anyway have had a karaoke element to a lesser or lgreater extent (e.g. Lemon in the Zooropa gigs). It's just disappointing to learn that Bono is maybe miming on certain songs. I'm sure the average U2 concert goer would not be aware of this.

I would say its because he has only 1 pair of hands and cannot play several drum parts at the same time. I love it when he does finally come in though. It helps the song build in intensity that way
