U2 Secret GIG in Chicago - March 10th

The friendliest place on the web for anyone that follows U2.

So yeah my chances aren't looking good. At my mom's house in DE and believe it or not she still has dial up! :tsk: Have to try to stream the station online but it's not going very well so far. Of all times to be out of state :scream:

I'm just wondering, if anyone not from the Chicago area winning tickets will have issues getting the actual tickets. Say, you win them and the station wants you to come down and pick them up that day. I can't exactly hop on over from Detroit right after work.

If I won them I would grow wings and fly in from Cleveland just to pick them up.....

Ok, for those of us living in the real world...

I'd hate to have to ask people here to pick up tickets, but really, would the station believe any dork off the street saying "oh, hai, I'm so and so picking up the tickets April won. No, really, she said I could."

Well, I don't think that anyone else could pick up the tickets, radio stations are strict about that stuff....

but if I won them I'd srsly be on my way to Chi town after I hung up the phone---everyone knows to make way for my U2 psyco-ness.

I got thru too late...by seconds I think...grrr...

heard the winner...good for her...

I did text when offered...then got a text back saying I'm entered to win tickets...

???

It was a guy from Chicago that won tickets the 2nd time. Going to try for the last time at 1:20 but honestly not feeling positive about this :sigh: First time my mom made it through but they had already chosen a winner.

Btw tawanda I got the same message when I sent my text

.... Damn you jeff stoli!!!!!!!!!!! It's practically impossible to win tickets for this event! they keep changing the rules, if there were any to being with! And at this rate, 15 people will win tickets with each person being able to bring along a friend to the event. That is the smallest PROMOTION event ever! I'm just having a lot of difficultly understanding the concept for this event. And really, I'm in school, and a lot of other people are in work during the day. How the HELL are we supposed to listen to the radio while in class with a crazy person as a professor?!?!?! Gah!

So what exactly is going on at 11:20, or whatever time? Are they making some kind of announcement on the show?

i JUST SPOKE TO a LADY AT wtmx and she said they are NOT playing live, just that it will be some sort of DJ set by U2!!!!! She said they did NOT say they were NOT playing live but that all thewy know is that U2 will be dj'ing. Take that for what it's worth.
Would I risk going form Miami if I thought there might be a chance they play. maybe but I'm trying to get the boston gig just incase.

That'd be fun, all the same, I think. I don't know if it's worth the travel for those out of the state or area, though.

These people are so confusing and misleading! Why are they giving away "bunches" of tickets to an "intimate" event?

Has U2 ever done this, where they just do a DJ session surrounded by random fans??????

Ugh. For real?

If this is the case, probably not. Would I kick myself if they all of a sudden decided to play some songs after the set? Hell, yes.

no luck for me. wasn't able to call the first time around since I'm at work, although I'll try at the next attempt a little while. And I tried to text. Was streaming the station live for a little but it sucks up the bandwidth in the office and since I'm not really supposed to be on the internet all that much....anyway, this is a bizarre giveaway since no one really knows where it seems to be or exactly what we're getting at the event itself.

According to the website they are giving away tickets all week so there is possibly hope after all. I won't be able to try tomorrow but will be trying rest of the week.

Good luck to everyone

Did anyone hear what they wanted this time around????? Text or owrd or phone in or anything? my alarm went off to remind me!!!!!!!! /GAH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

My friend Suzy in Chicago, a huge U2 fan, was the first person to win tickets this morning! Suzy was caller #10 to the radio station. She called me on my cell minutes after winning the tickets to tell me the great news. I just talked to her again a few minutes ago. She still can't believe she won. I'm so happy for her! I know at least one deserving U2 fan will be there.

They're keeping the location super-secret. Even the winners won't know where it is until they get there next Tuesday. Later this week they'll let Suzy know where to go. Once she gets there, all the winners will be taken by bus to the real location. They didn't even tell her what exactly will be happening next Tuesday. Is the band playing a live set or just spinning records? Suzy has been wanting to meet Larry forever, so the chances are good that'll finally happen regardless if whether they play or not.

Congrats to your friend! That's so awesome that she was the first winner. I heard her screaming on the radio lol. Hope she get's the chance to finally meet Larry :).

Based on the fact that they aren't telling the winners much than it's going to be rather hard to figure out where they will be. Still there is always a chance of a leak getting out :hmm:
