Telecom provider KPN is investigating why the national telephone network went partially down on Saturday afternoon. Many service numbers were unreachable.
In and around the eastern city of Nijmegen the General Practitioners' Call Centre could no longer be contacted by phone following heavy use of the national network by callers who tried to book tickets for a concert by Irish rock group U2. Nijmegen's regional medical call centre says it is unacceptable that the health service is put at risk because concert tickets are being sold somewhere in the country.
KPN wants to find out why the network was unable to cope with the heavy use
