Hi again folks. Call me a fud here if need be.....but am assuming that by downloading the emulator means i can let my wee boy play SNES games on my laptop? Am i right or a complete fud?

Yes, the emulators work like the old school real thing, but then on your pc... the controls will be diff ofcourse, in my experience usually the arrows and aszx as abxy buttons... but you'll find that out when you get it
also for the gameboy and gameboy advance games you can download an emulator called visualboy advance, and if you google the name of a game with rom behind it you'll find the game :)

This is the SNES emulator that I use:

Of course, you have to download the roms seperately (the roms are files containing the actual games... which you use the emulator to play.) SNES roms are generally harder to find than regular NES, but this site seems to have a good selection:

As for the gameplay, you can use the keyboard, as GG said, but that can be difficult to get used to with some games. Alternately, you can buy a PC controller (any type will do, it doesn't have to be an 'SNES' controller) and set up the emulator to work with that controller. Alternately, if you already have newer video game controllers lying around the house (PS2, Gamecube, Xbox) you can usually find an adapter that will allow you to hook those controllers up to the USB port on your computer, and use them to play games.
