Help with Norton Internet Security

I have this program on my computer now, but its really slowing it down, I have to wait everytime I look at a new page. Even on Google, it scans for a virus, does anyone know how to make that stop, or is that just what it does?

Norton AV is the best AV product, but Internet Security is overkill, especially with SP2's Windows Security Center. It can be harmful to be running so many security programs at once. You should be able to go to Add/Remove Programs, click on Norton, click "uninstall", but only uninstall the components you don't need. Personally, I'd disable or uninstall everything but the antivirus program. Everything else is already being done by the security program built into Windows.

I like McAfee too. My sister worked for Symantec but they laid her off so I boycott them whenever possible. Bastards.

Ahh that sucks...

Yeah Norton does SIGNIFICANTLY slow down your PC, but it's better than McAffee, I'll tell you that. Your best bet is to buy AVG Antivirus, which is $35. It's got the best ratings and I've heard a lot about it.

All you really need is AVG, Windows Defender/Antispyware, Ad-Aware, and Spybot. Do weekly checks and you're good. (And you don't really need some of those... def. AVG, but pick two out of the other three)

I use Symantec/Norton Anti-Virus Corporate edition and Windows Defender, and of course a physical firewall ... and I never have any problems.
