Honestly, it's a beta so you may not have much luck in fixing your issue now. If you need stability, I would go back to the last official release of firefox.

I'm trying out the beta 8. Hasn't crashed till now. The add-ons manager is much much better. and it supports WebGL for most of the built-in graphics cards on Mac and Windows.

I'm still using 3.6.6 because of all the issues with the newer versions.

They do have a few issues, but performance is much better, specially with HTML5. Firefox 4 will be officially released in early 2011. Maybe Feb or march. But there will be at least two more beta revisions before that.

someone else i know in australia (omg i know right! lol) mentioned she was having problems loading facebook as well, she had to use the mobile site. it seems to be okay for her now since her stuff's not coming up as posting from a mobile, is everything good for you now too?

^ A lot of people are having this problem.
Maybe some add on or Java is causing it. Older versions of Java cause a lot of problems on firefox.

Anyways, here is a trick to speed up the internet on firefox. You will notice a definite improvement while loading any site.

1. Type in "about:config" in the address bar

2. In the list that appears, find "network.http.pipelining" Double click on this, the end column will change from "False" to "True"

3. Find "network.http.proxy.pipelining"and do the same

4. Find "network.http.pipelining.maxrequests" Double click on this. An input box will appear on the screen. This is usually set to 4 by default. Change it to 8.
