I've watched two episodes of Season 3 and so far it's kind of meh...it gets good, right?

I think its meh because after the Katherine of Aragon/Anne Bolelyn drama, the story of Henry VIII gets boring. There's little scandal, drama, or any others for a good, juicy story.

But I'm still watching it. Heaven knows I'm a total sucker for historical drama.

Oh I'm a total sucker too. I have season one and I've re-watched it tons of times

It'll be the last season.

Or, at least, Rhys Meyers' last season. Maybe they'll continue on with a new actor for fat, ugly, ulceric Henry.

From what I've heard, they're not going to make Henry VIII fat. They're keeping him young and good looking.

Now that is really deviating from history!

I cried throughout that whole episode. It was so unfair what happened to Anne. But hey, she had the last laugh: her daughter became England's greatest ruler!

Yeah, they did a great job with that final episode, I thought.

*granted, I know very little about the real history, so it doesn't bother me if they changed every other detail for the show.

I'll have to wait for the DVDs :grumpy:

Is it good? Well, it's good even when it's bad...

I just finished watching Season 1 on Netflix Instant. I don't know if I want to watch Season 2 or not. I've loved Jonathan Rhys Myers since Bend It Like Beckham, but he's just all wrong for Henry VIII. He comes off like a pouty, spoiled adolescent rather than a charasmatic-yet-egocentric ruler. And what excuse do they have for making Anne Boleyn so boring? On the other hand, Mary Doyle Kennedy is awesome as Catherine of Aaragon. I didn't expect she'd be as strong a character as she is. I'm loving Jeremy Northam - it's interesting that they are showing the darker side of Thomas More's character and not just making him all saintly and righteous. Oh, and there's always naked Henry Cavill to count on.

I've watched the first episode of the new season, and sure enjoyed it. Haven't watched the second episode yet.

The second season is definitely better then season one. I'd give it a try.

Well goodness, that was sure an action-packed* episode.

*and by "action-packed," I mean HOLY SHIT, TORTURE & BEHEADINGS!!!!!

yes,
this series from the first episode to last night
has been consistently very enjoyable

not one misfire.

the hanging and then quartering while still alive - gets right to the point of cruel and unusual punishment.

I am glad they don't show all the graphic details. who needs that

I love the show. It's delicious.

And when it's done, I'll go find out the real history, as for the most part, I'm clueless as to how much of this is accurate!

Although I did read the other day that Katherine's letter to Culpepper was real - I think I read it's the one letter of hers that made it into the annals of history.

Glad that Culpepper asshole got his. Effing raping murderer.

you wont be disappointed.

I have heard they take a lot of license, that is fine with me. If it makes better television.

I liked the Rome series too. I know Irvine was a fan, too.

The site I use regularly to find episodes of TV shows is SurfTheChannel - Home. Definitely worth checking it out there - I've found a few episodes there in the past. Not sure how up to date it is, though. I keep meaning to finish watching this. I'm still on Season 3.

Is there another wife after Katherine Howard, or was she #6? I was trying to remember all of them last night and couldn't remember if there was a wife in there between Anne Boleyn and Jane Seymour.

Spanish lady
Anne Boleyn
Jane Seymour
Anne of Cleves
Katherine Howard

... and then another one? Is that right?
