Excluding the abortion issue, they are both essentially the same party. They present themselves very differently, but their actions speak much louder than their PR.
 
Once upon a time in America, to identify oneself as a Democrat or Republican meant something. It means very little now. These two parties haven't been particularly relevant it years.

Those guys in suits on C-SPAN -- the politicians on Capitol Hill -- are living in their own world, a world that I perceive has little to do with me.
