This is the first post on this I've made in a while? I don't understand your reaction.

I'm so far to the left that you can't even see me from where you're sitting.

I always felt this board had a general centre-left lean, there's nothing at all 'super-left' and distant from the political mainstream in regards to most of the contributors here.

True, although I found it kind of interesting that Sanders still refers to Scandinavia as a platform to aspire to when even they have drifted from their social democratic heyday in recent decades.

Sanders is about as far as 'liberal' can go. I would be surprised if there were any existing liberals to the left of him.

Um, one person does not equal most.

And to give you context that poster is not in the U.S., what some of you consider "far-left" is very center compared to other parts of the world.

*edited to say one other poster has come out and said Sanders isn't liberal but after you had made this comment.

Do you not know that Vlad is not an American, Bob? I don't think you know that.

I don't care where he's from. If that's some kind of cop out, that's weak bullcrap. If he doesn't live in this country, how would he know how our systems work and why would his opinion mean anything.

It's possible to educate yourself quite well about countries other than your own.

That's an awfully narrow view to take. Should we not care what other educated, informed people might have to say, simply because they live in a different country?

Yes, educated and informed people can express their opinions. But he rips on the American system, then uses the fact that he's not an American as a cop out.

How is it a cop out?

If anything it's a justification for his broader view that liberals in the States are pretty centrist globally.

What exactly is he copping out of? He never claimed to have all the answers, he's just giving his opinion from a different cultural perspective.

Vlad can have an opinion. I love UK politics. And he's probably correct in his initial point that Sanders is probably conservative compared to Socialist parties in Euro parliaments.

The point that he was making was that what is considered "left" in America, is really "centre-left" in other parts of the world. Same thing goes for the right of the political spectrum. That's his perspective, based on where he's from.

Also, he's not wrong.

not that it matters but Vlad, I believe has spent some time in America

I along with many of us in here have no problem writing our opinions on Israel, Russia, UK, China, Iraq and any other number of countries

this is a place where I welcome and appreciate all opinions.

You missed his point entirely and assigned it a completely different tone. Everyone else understood. Maybe you shouldn't be so quick to question someone's knowledge about the subject.

Now this is something that ticks me off about Republicans, Cruz, Rubio, Paul included. The big business wing of the party is behind this too. IT workers at Disney, Con-Edison, Silicon Valley are being laid off and forced to train their replacements coming mainly from an outsourcing company in India called Tata.

Basically, American workers are being let go to bring in cheaper replacements in the tech field at these big companies. Crony Capitalism gone wrong. I'm not sure if lawmakers on both sides of the aisle saw this as the end result. But it could bite them in the ass now. Makes me think less of Rubio, since he lobbied for it and now Floridians are out of work.
As I understood the law, the H1-B Visa could be used only when there is a low applicant pool stateside.

I remember back in college IT was heralded as the next big industry. And my school even built a whole building as part of a new IST college.

Now I think this is part of the immigration debate that will occur in the GOP primary and beyond.

PS: Working in a company I've always found the IT guys to be the biggest dicks. One even blocked Interference.com for a month, but its back in time for the tour. Maybe its Karma

A right to health care means every health worker is a slave? No doctors, nurses, paramedics, or hospital janitors ever get any time off? I don't even understand how you could connect these thoughts together and think "yeah, that's a great way to say it".

How much longer will people (originally I said "Americans", but this is not a strictly American problem) allow their elected officials - on all sides of the political spectrum - to speak to them in such insulting, demeaning, unintelligent and patronizing ways? Holy fuck, this guy essentially just said "I think you're all god damned idiots incapable of thinking about anything at all" to the entire nation. Right to healthcare = slavery, come the fuck on. No adult can honestly say something like that outside of an absurd comedy sketch. What a crock of baloney. Not surprising so much loose dry shit can spew from a giant gaping asshole.

But a right to healthcare will turn into a right to free healthcare. The right to bear arms will turn into a right to free guns. Plus once you get your first, it's much easier to get the second and third for free.
