They really tried to overthrow it. Wasn’t just the violent attack on the Capital, but Trump was in direct contact with people in the DOJ to try and gaslight the entire nation into thinking the election was fraudulent

There has to be accountability or is the DOJ itself too far up it’s ass to even function properly anymore ?
 
Should have resigned after filling nursing homes to the brim with covid patients.

i still believe that pulling out of Afghanistan is/was the right decision - that we can't engage in forever wars, and that any inevitable pull out - be it now, 5 years ago, or 5 years in the future - would have been messy and bloody.

alas - the optics of what's going on right now are not good.

as much as i think the administration has done a good job - the two big matzoah balls that are hanging out there and could blow up in the D's faces for the midterms, even more so than COVID/Delta and the voting rights bills..

  • afghanistan becoming a nightmare
  • the continued uptick in crime after the idiotic "defund the police" slogan

A California father allegedly confessed to killing his two children with a spearfishing gun, telling authorities that he was motivated by the conspiracy theories of QAnon -- and claiming that he was trying to "save the world."

Matthew Taylor Coleman, a well-known surfing instructor in Santa Barbara, was arrested after he allegedly drove his 2-year-old son and 10-month-old daughter into Mexico over the weekend and killed them on Monday.


PEOPLE has obtained a criminal complaint that was filed in the U.S. District Court on Wednesday. In the 10-page complaint, FBI special agent Jennifer Bannon wrote that Coleman claimed to be "enlightened by QAnon and Illuminati conspiracy theories and was receiving visions and signs revealing that his wife, A.C., possessed serpent DNA and had passed it on to his children."

"M. Coleman stated that he believed his children were going to grow into monsters so he had to kill them," Bannon wrote.

In the documents, Bannon says that Coleman detailed how he killed his daughter first by shooting a spear gun in her heart. Then he allegedly killed his son, but he did not die right away, so he had to be shot several times. Coleman claimed that he hurt his hand in the process.


While a bloody wooden stake was found near the bodies, authorities now believe that the spear gun was the murder weapon.

"M. Coleman stated that he knew it was wrong," Bannon wrote, "but it was the only course of action that would save the world."

Hey, person who argues in bad faith.

It is possible to be critical of the handling of Afghanistan while also understanding that there's a big fuck problem with the delta variant. They are not mutually exclusive.

I don't recall any comment when his fuhrer made that deal with the Taliban over a year ago, leading to a major increase in Taliban activity and strength, which has directly led to this.

The leader of the Taliban is a guy Trump negotiated to be let out of prison (along with 5000 others)

The media is both siding this and now we see the GQP deleting old tweets, press releases, etc claiming a victory for Trump setting this withdrawal up.

It does appear to be a cluster getting these people out of there, and I’m not sure if this is a failure of the admin or if Afghanistan has been royally fucked for so long that this was the best we could do.

We spent 20 years, lost thousands of troops, as well as civilian lives, spent billions of $$$ to prop up their government and military

And they fold in 20 mins
 
I'd say it is a failure of the Biden administration. Clearly weren't enough preparations in place. To see all those people running to planes and trying to get on them is beyond awful.

That said, for Republicans to spin this politically is a joke. Who got us into that mess? And didn't Trump say that the Taliban was on the run and fleeing Afghanistan? I recall that he said that. Clearly they weren't and didn't.
