Yes.

Followed by Susan Collins’ brow.

I suppose... but just the same people like Susan Collins and Lisa Murkowski will squabble whichever way the wind blows. They now have their opportunity to go get the votes in there that make them supposedly bipartisan when they trade votes on key issues with Manchin. Nothing to see there imo.

Main point is McConnell won’t be calling the shots.

I like the irony in the fact that the runoff system in Georgia, built by segregationists to repress black candidates, is making the racist party lose their two seats this time.

i really hope like hell that this is just the beginning of something good, and the democratic party isn't just going to pat themselves on the back for a job well done for the next two years.

My money says these are religious black Republican men.

this is close to my next response if the answer to my last post is "no". i'm sure there are some folks in georgia who would understandably be moved to vote for their first Black senator ever and couldn't care less about the race between the two white guys.

It’s probably one ballot? It’s a state election.

i'm sure it's one ballot, but i'm wondering if you mark an X for one election but not the other if that would be recorded as a vote in one race and no-vote in the other, or if the ballot would just be rejected.

Only 100 vote discrepancy between the races but Ossoff has 15,000 votes less than Warnock.

Irvine is pointing out that interesting 15,000. It’s probably a mix of sexism, anti-Trump republicans who see Loeffler as a Trumpster but Purdue as predating Trump, and black people who were more focused on showing up for Warnock than anything else. I’d guess the last point is the largest, and I’m being purely speculative in saying it’s probably predominantly men who might otherwise be right leaning.

I think it's quite possible.
More people now know (and lived such bad stuff) how bad it can be during rerhuglican rule that mostly only POC & poor white people usually experienced before.

Some young people will stay engaged, too, I think.

If you’re showing up to vote for Warnock, why wouldn’t you take the .5 seconds and also vote for Ossoff?

Or maybe it’s more R’s who voted for Perdue, who has a history in Ga, and view Loeffler as insider trading Barbie and a totally illegitimate appointee.

You are informed
You are aware
Not everyone is well read. Not everyone watches tv or has social media that is exposing them to this type of information. Not everyone is smart enough to understand the implications. We are talking about 15,000 in something like 4 or 5 million. That’s like 0.3% of the vote. It’s not unreasonable to think that this 0.3% is potentially not that well informed etc., I’d say.

Yes. Play hardball, don't let up on making sure Trump and the GOP pay for their crimes and abuses of power, and don't let their cries of "socialism!" and "radical leftists" scare the Democrats away from getting important and significant legislation through. Go big and go bold.

And we voters need to continue to do our part to keep on them about getting this stuff done, too.

If they can’t unite after the last four years (and more like eight years after what Mitch did to them when took over under Obama), then there’s probably no hope.

They need to realize that they have a big tent, and no one is going to be 100% satisfied with every bill that comes thru. But they need to do serious work for america and bite their tongue on some things.

They have a chance to make real meaningful changes, and incremental ones towards their big goals (like M4All). But to focus on pipe dreams will squander this chance.
