He’ll get there. Just a tough road at moment.

Can we please get rid of this party ? Why not one giant party at least where people then debate policy vs this tribal BS.

Then it’s individuals who are to blame vs attacking party.

But probably doesn’t change anything.

An 1807 law invoked only in the most violent circumstances is now a rallying cry for the MAGA-ites most committed to the fantasy that Donald Trump will never leave office.

The law, the Insurrection Act, allows the president to deploy troops to suppress domestic uprisings — not to overturn elections.

But that hasn’t stopped the act from becoming a buzzword and cure-all for prominent MAGA figures like Sidney Powell and Lin Wood, two prominent pro-Trump attorneys leading efforts to overturn the 2020 election, and even one North Carolina state lawmaker. Others like Michael Flynn, Trump’s first national security adviser who was recently pardoned for lying to the FBI, have made adjacent calls for Trump to impose martial law. The ideas have circulated in pro-Trump outlets and were being discussed over the weekend among the thousands of MAGA protesters who descended on state capitols and the Supreme Court to falsely claim Trump had won the election.

At its core, the Insurrection Act gives the president authority to send military and National Guard troops to quell local rebellions and violence, offering an exemption to prohibitions against using military personnel to enforce domestic laws. Historically, it has been used in moments of extreme national strife — the Civil War, the rise of the Ku Klux Klan, violent labor disputes, desegregation battles, rioting following Martin Luther King Jr.’s death.

Only once, however, has it been used in the wake of an election — and that was to stop a literal militia from seizing the Louisiana government on behalf of John McEnery, a former Confederate officer who had lost the 1872 governor’s race.

Nonetheless, in the minds of some authoritarian-leaning and conspiracy-minded Trump supporters, the Insurrection Act has become a needed step to prevent President-elect Joe Biden from assuming the presidency. Their evidence-deficient reasoning: Democrats illegally rigged the election and are attempting a coup, and Trump must send in the troops to undo this conspiracy.

It’s definitely one of my main concerns in the next month or even years.

MAGA terrorism
Russia shutting down our Infrastructure
Economic depression / widening gap between haves and have nots
Climate
Another pandemic

This is a man who’s never lived in reality. A mind so far gone into greed and never being held accountable that when the time May come for him to take his medicine, he’s going to be dangerous.

The only way to stop him from actually doing this is to invoke the 25th

Reportedly a meeting was held in the WH last Friday that included talk from Flynn and Trump about invoking martial law to redo the election in battleground states.

It's absolute insanity. The fact that this is even being suggested by the "president" should be grounds for let's just say early dismissal. Add to that a raging pandemic that he doesn't give a damn about, economic disaster that he doesn't give a damn about, Russian hacking that he doesn't give a damn about.

Plus just not even doing his actual job. Anything else?

I love you Mittens (not really of course)

Donald Trump’s flirtation with declaring martial law in battleground states and appointing a conspiracy theorist as special counsel to help his attempt to overturn defeat by Joe Biden are “really sad” and “nutty and loopy”, Mitt Romney said on Sunday.

“He’s leaving Washington with a whole series of conspiracy theories and things that are so nutty and loopy that people are shaking their head wondering what in the world has gotten into this man,” the Utah Republican senator said.

He’s been quite visible lately. I think he’s trying to assume leader of the non-Trump part of what remains of the GOP, and maybe angling for 2024, although he’d be 76-77 ... but so is Biden, so ...

No, we really aren't wondering what has "gotten into" this man.

He's been like this all along and your lot supported him every step of the way.

What a profile in courage, that Mitt.

Just be appreciative that Mittens only sold 75% of his soul, but maintains some sense of self respect and dignity.

I agree that he's probably the least offensive of the current lot in Washington. And regardless of policy differences, I don't think that he'd have been a disastrous president either.

What I don't like is this pretense of shock about Trump's behaviour all of a sudden. As if he was totally above board all along and then got abducted by aliens.

He’s playing statesman, it’s gross and all but he’s clearly trying to court people who are willing to jump ship. Sanders is out doing the same thing right now... instead of shaming them, he’s offering them an out. You know Mitt hates Trumps’ guts and short of potentially getting a cabinet position he never supported Trump.

I agree with you. I'm just living for the nutty and loopy part. You have to cling to any little sliver in 2020.

No other Republican has ever used the words nutty and loopy publicly, to my knowledge. They're all too ascared of Donnie and his base.

Btw Donnie says the martial law stuff is fake news. Of course he does.

So appropriate that a presidency that begins with Russia, ends with Russia. Is there anything he won’t do for them?

And the irony of it all is that the only thing Russia never hacked....was her emails.

These last 30 days are going to be even crazier.

Thousands of Trump supporters are planning a virtual "second inauguration" for President Trump on Jan. 20, the same day as President-elect Joe Biden's inauguration.

More than 60,000 people have indicated on Facebook that they plan to attend the event being billed as "Donald J. Trump 2nd Presidential Inauguration Ceremony."

"Disclaimer: We are a grassroots collection of private individuals 325,000 strong, showing our support for President Donald J. Trump. We have no affiliation with any formal organization," says the page's description.

Facebook has added a disclaimer to the page that states, "Joe Biden is the President-elect. He will be inaugurated as the 46th US President on January 20, 2021."

The event is scheduled to take place at 12 p.m. EST on Jan. 20, around the time of Biden's swearing-in, and will be hosted by Ilir Chami and Evi Kokalari, who was reportedly part of Trump's 2020 campaign and regularly appears on right-leaning news networks such as One America News Network.

In a recent post on the Facebook page, Kokalari reposted Facebook's disclaimer and wrote, "Our voting rights are under attack! So is our freedom of speech! And FB's disclaimer on this post, proves just that."

Trump may not have finished causing trouble but at least you voted him out.. here in the UK we've got the Blonde Ape bumbling around like a f****** idiot, accompanied by the rest of the f***wits plunging this country into one crises after another- the latest being closed borders and a couple of thousand lorries stacked up in Kent, 36 hours after they were stopped from travelling

His response to this somewhat important problem- another bumbling press conference

It always amazes me how stupid some folks are and can't distinguish between a private platform like Facebook or Interference and public free speech. They can't comprehend that the private platform has the right to restrict what's posted there.
