Biden has now matched his previous highest polling average - +9.6

He was at 9.3-9.6 for about a week and a half from June 30th to July 11th.

So far only the regular USC tracking poll is out, but it remains at +11/+12 which is a good sign. We will see what else rolls in today.

Well, I thought Harris had her moments, but I guess I was expecting some more push back and aggressiveness. Pence kept going beyond his time and the moderator let him go, and Harris took too long to point that out and request her own time.

Some of the analysts mentioned that as a woman, and a Black woman, she couldn't be seen as "too aggressive or angry". Completely pathetic state of affairs, sadly it's still true. Look what was done to Hillary.

Even more offensive as a double standard given the behavior of the orange super spreader.

Agreed, and it's a shame that we still have to deal with that as a society.

For me, it wasn't about having her push back aggressively, I understand the predicament she is in with her gender and race. For me it was more about not just responding to or bringing up some very easy things. I mean, not even a mention that there are now 34 people in the WH sphere that have covid? When moderator asked Pence about them not wearing masks, and he blamed the American people for being responsible for doing it, not them... Umm... The ball is teed up to hit it out of the park, but she didn't go for it. I mean, she's a prosecutor. Their super power is to seize on statements from the other side and turn it against them. I didn't see much of that.

I think she won overall, but left a lot on the table. And like I said last night, Trump would do something stupid by today and no one would remember this debate. Well, it took all of 7 hours for Trump to refuse to debate remotely, and guess what people are talking about.

DeSantis says Miami Dolphins can have full stadium (65,000 fans). Dolphins say nah, we’ll stick with the 13k

How can anyone not believe that he puts Trump winning the election above the lives of people in that state? He is a sick individual.

You couldn't pay me enough money to live in FL right now.

Data for Progress national poll - Biden +15 (+18 with Registered Voters - But poll analysts are using Likely Voters at this point in the election)

Did anyone else notice that Senator Harris' husband kept his mask on when he went up on stage at the end, while Mrs. Pence had removed hers? I believe the stated rules were masks on at all times inside the building. Didn't matter that the debate was over. It didn't matter that you're a spouse either.

Yes, it was good representation of this whole sorry situation.

I sympathize with Kamala Harris - Trump was already on Fox this morning calling her an unlikeable Communist monster and that was with her being overly polite and deferential to Pence. Imagine the pearl clutching if she'd told him to shut up or called him a liar? Women can't win in this setting, and a woman of colour is 100 times more disadvantaged.

The debate commission should say that the third debate will be the town hall, because Americans deserve to ask the candidates questions. There would be nothing better to leave a final impression on the voters than Trump ranting, raving and talking over random grandmas.

Not to mention that she has been exposed to COVID as recently as last week (if not more recently).

Buttitieg is definitely not the direction I'd like to see Democrats going in the future, but I can't deny he has been great in these interviews lately.

There was much about President Trump’s Thursday morning interview with Fox Business host Maria Bartiromo that reeked of desperation and an incumbent president fighting for his political life. He decided to go down the “unlikable” path with Sen. Kamala D. Harris (D-Calif.) and called her a “monster.” He said he wouldn’t participate in a virtual debate with former vice president Joe Biden next week. He suggested he might win heavily blue New York state. He even cast doubt on polls showing him down by double digits — by pointing to boaters and truck-owners who support him.

the boaters!

Pete is immensely talented on this stage. i'll be interested to see what role he gets in the administration if Biden wins. it seems fairly obvious that he'll play a big part. Secretary of State? UN Ambassador?

i do wonder if there's a plan to slot him in as Kamala's VP in 2024 (if they win in November, of course)

It's amazing when you see somebody eloquent and calm. We've become so conditioned to irrational ranting and raving.

I expect more of this regardless of who’s POTUS, but feel it’ll be more likely if Joe is leading the country.

We are going to see a battle between the federal government and states.

If Trump wins, Blue states will fight his policies

If Biden wins, Red states fight

Unfortunately the Supreme Court will side with Red majority of the time.

"How any evangelical Christian would want to be on a ticket with a President who was caught with a porn star" is such a good line, and a pretty good synthesis of the Christian Right.

And there goes the Trump campaign folding like a deck of cards.

Now willing to debate in person with a 1 week delay.
