"tim alberta" sounds like the fake name michael vick uses to check into canadian hotels.

Funny that this name came up because I was chain reading Wikipedia last night and ended up on the Steppenwolf. Apparently there was a Canuck drummer named Jerry Edmonton.

The @JoeBiden campaign also announced they broke their largest single-hour fundraising hour tonight between 10p and 11p on ActBlue, raising $3.8 million in that time frame.

Good.

If Trump does show up at the next debate, and he starts behaving like this again, he gets his mic cut off once. After that, he tries to interrupt and bully again, he gets escorted off the stage for good. Nobody should have to put up with this insanity again and he shouldn't get another opportunity to rally any psycho groups.

Biden's biggest whiff was not using Trump's "you can't say that, you'll lose the left!" shtick on the white supremacist balk.

"You can't actively denounce white supremacy, you'll lose your base!" would have destroyed him.

The Biden team has plenty of material for next time. In the meanwhile, Harris is going to annihilate Pence.

Biden did look old, and he was clearly thrown off by the PCP-level invective and inanity.

But I can’t see anyone other than a die-hard FREE MICHIGAN Trumper thinking this was inspiring and they want four more years of this.

Keep in mind that not everybody watched and plenty of people made their minds up already and Fox News is probably going off about how even it was punch for punch.

Honestly, I think anyone would've been. It's hard to really debate and sound coherent when you're barely able to get a word in edgewise.

Agreed. People are just well and truly exhausted at this point.

I had a quick dip into the debate threads on r/politics and r/conservative. The debate was nothing more than a Rorschach test, people saw what they wanted and are firmly locked in. No one is jumping ship on either side.

Any voters who remain legitimately undecided are somehow excusing all of Trump and the GOP’s bullshit behaviour and buying into any false equivalency peddled by Fox News, Facebook, etc. When the dust has settled and a winner is eventually declared, it’s who these undecideds votes for and why will be of most interest to me.

I just liked that Joe spoke to the American people once in a while and recognized that we were watching. That's a low bar that Trump couldn't clear.

Trump is even further up his own ass now than in 2016. He's completely entrenched in conspiracy theories and alt right talking points. The majority of Americans have no interest.

Proud Boys in social media groups are going wild about the "Stand back and stand by" comment. They are basically seeing it as acknowledgment and a call to arms

The President of the United States expressed confusion on how to condemn white supremacists, then when given the name of such a group told them to “stand by” and is now tweeting for poll watchers as part of the ‘Army for Trump’. It seems these groups are more than willing to take up the cause.

Like, holy shit. There are no words.

All Trump has at this moment is to use the courts to throw out the mail ballots / votes.

That’s it. He isn’t winning the popular vote and unless something really tightens over the next month he isn’t winning the EC.....without cheating.

My two biggest concerns are

Him using the courts to stay in power
His supporters going Timothy McVeigh on local / state / federal property and overall violence towards minorities

Imagine finding these depths of self-pity inspiring.

You might be only picking on warren for that reason, but the fact that you’re working with her the individual and not instead “this entire group of people” is why I believe you’re missing my point.

This wasn’t a criticism on anyone as an individual.

AOC was highlighted simply because she’s an exception in terms of age. She is a millennial. She won’t last for long before she becomes one of them. That’s not her fault. That’s the critique of the system.

Totally agreed that especially the Senate is too much of an exclusive club, thanks to how the current system requires millions of dollars for anyone to mount a successful campaign. So yeah, as a system it's bad, nonetheless on an individual level it doesn't necessarily mean everyone is removed from the reality that people on low or even normal incomes are facing.

How the fuck did you cunts become a superpower. This is embarrassing.

This debate has actually convinced some undecided voters to not vote at all.

This is so saddening. The entire 20th century has provided so much precedent to draw from. :(

I will say that Trump’s “I’ve done more in 47 months than you have in 47 years” line is pretty catchy. But it loses marks for being a lie and the fact he’s only been president for 44 months.

Right? His ranting tonight seemed especially desperate. He's already been freaking out about how poorly he's doing in the polls and whatnot as it is. The NYT report on his taxes no doubt scared him shitless, and so he needed to try and push all his talking points tonight to a) distract everyone from that story, and b) try and shore up whatever base he's got left and make him feel like it's 2016 again. He seriously seems to be under the impression that what worked then will work now, and that we'll all just forget he was president the last four years and still see him through those 2016 lenses.

Fortunately, I do think most Americans are well and truly ready to reject him and his insanity. I honestly think if he does win another term, it won't be because of the people (well, technically, it wasn't in 2016, either). And yes, my biggest fear is what would happen if he did lose, and how he and his supporters would handle it.

Which is why not only do I hope the loss is big enough for us to call it early and avoid a drawn out battle, but also so that Trump and his psycho cult are so defeated that it zaps them of their bluster, and they slink away and hide instead of try and show their faces.

LOL, I was sitting here doing the math in my head, too, during that. I was like, "...wait...but...no...?"

And I usually suck at math :p.

The next "debate" is a town hall format. Biden campaign has already stated that he will attend.

I thought it was a big mistake for Biden to smile after every ridiculous thing Manbaby said. And of course the camera was on Biden every single time.

Rick Santorum twisting himself into a pretzel to justify Trump is one of the most cringeworthy things on television. He represents the entire sellout GOP in that regard. Soulless

When Trump said "you just lost the left!" after Biden said he didn't support the green new deal, he supported the Biden plan, Biden should have clapped back, "what, you think they're going to vote for you now?"

That's the most positive takeaway I could pull from this mess: debate "winners" are determined by the broadening of support. I haven't seen any sign that Trump gained voters last night.

I don't think anyone truly undecided could have watched last night and thought voting for Trump was a good choice.
Unfortunately probably the same holds true for Biden.
Some might say" well Trump was worse so I'll vote for Biden", but most will probably choose to stay home and clip their toe nails figuring its a better use of their time.

I understand that Biden didn't set himself apart last night, but I'm not sure what else he could have done beyond walking over and punching the clown show in the face.

Would merely shouting back at him have really made last night better for anyone?

I don't want to hear "iF oNlY iT wAs BeRnIe/LiZ/aNyOnE" bullshit.

The other party entered the stage in bad faith and had zero intention of actually holding a debate. I can't even blame Chris Wallace. Short of a kill switch, what would you have had him do?

Trump won't debate because he has nothing to debate about - so he needs to simply burn down the stage and hope nobody notices.
