Trump is off to campaign today in... Minnesota! Another day wasted. I love it.

(CNN)During one of the more charged moments of the chaotic US presidential debate, former Vice President Joe Biden dropped a phrase from everyday Muslim and Arab vocabulary and lit up the internet.

Pressing President Donald Trump on when the American public would get to see his long-anticipated tax returns, Biden questioned: "When? Inshallah?"

In certain vernacular, "inshallah" serves as a non-committal response to a question.

Taken literally, the term "inshallah," consists of three Arabic words (In sha' Allah) which translate into "if God wills it." Spiritually it represents a submission to God's will. It can perhaps be seen as the Muslim counterpart to the Yiddish adage, "Man plans, and God laughs."

Children in the Muslim world will often say that when a parent responds to a question with "inshallah," it signals an unfulfilled promise, while unreliable timekeeping is lightheartedly chalked up to "inshallah timing."

"Yes, Joe Biden said 'Inshallah' during the #Debates2020 debate," tweeted political commentator Wajahat Ali. "It literally means 'God willing,' but it's often used to mean, 'Yeah, never going to happen.' Example: My wife: Will you finally pick up your socks? Me: Inshallah. No, saying inshallah doesn't make you Muslim."

Thanks for sharing that, MrsS. I totally missed that moment-learned something new here. Good word to have in one's vocabulary.

Who the hell is waiting to hear Santorum's thoughts on anything? I didn't realize he was even still relevant.

Yep.

Honestly, though, I would've been more than okay with him doing that. As would a lot of other people, I imagine. Even if people didn't walk away super impressed with Biden, yeah, the general consensus I'm seeing online from last night is that Trump totally alienated most viewers with his behavior. He definitely did not win any new fans that I could see.

I'm also very pleased to see that his refusal to condemn white supremacists is the big news story coming out of last night.

Hoping now the at the first debate is done, we will see higher amounts of people sending in ballots across the country, cause i think everyone saw all they needed to see.
Yes. Two welcome pieces of good news I saw online:

More than 1.2 million Americans have already cast their ballot, according to the 20 states that are reporting, said CNN's Pamela Brown, ahead tonight's presidential debate and voters in 32 states have already had the opportunity to cast their ballots.

Like I said, I am seriously going to laugh so hard if Trump's attacks on mail-in voting totally backfire on him and blow his and the GOP's chances at winning.

Kind of obnoxious to call it “Muslim vocabulary.” That’s like saying claiming that saying “Jesus fucking Christ” is English is “Christian vocabulary.” Or better yet “god dammit.”

The next strategy is some combination of: (i) cheating/foreign interference, (ii) disenfranchising and deterring people of colour from voting, (iii) sending hordes of MAGA-wearing-armed-to-the-teeth lunatics to polling places to intimidate voters in person, (iv) convincing a large enough % of the population that voting by mail is 101% fraudulent, (v) preparing to mount a massive legal battle re: ballot counting at state level and rely on his SCOTUS to get him over the line and (vi) whatever other nonsense they can come up with on their own or via Barr before November 3 as a last minute surprise.

The media needs to be running down this $421M liability of Trump's to the ground.
No doubt

Mods will now be able to cut the mic in future debates.

Does Trump refuse to do another one?

I would if I were him.

Trumpsters are convinced that will actually help him because it will expose...Biden’s inability to speak coherently at length.

So I guess we’re back to step 1 of lather, rinse, repeat.

This could be called, The Blue Tide...

If the current polls are correct, Biden is doing about as well in South Carolina as Obama 2012 did in North Carolina, about as well in North Carolina as Obama 2012 did in Virginia, and about as well in Virginia as Obama 2012 did in Maryland.

Latest YouGov national poll. Biden +8, up 3 from a couple weeks ago.

This week's Economist/YouGov poll:

Biden: 50%
Trump: 42
Other 2
Undecided 6

96% of voters say their minds are made up v 4% who say there's a chance they might switch

Fielded 9/27 - 9/30. Numbers are among 1350 likely voters.

8 points behind and 4% are open to switching between 2 candidates... Not a good place to be.

So Biden's national average on 538 went from 7.0 to 7.6 today.

I'm going to say now, that Biden will gain about half a point when post debate polls come in next week. I'm guessing he will be at +8 by the end of next week, along with small boosts across swing states from MI, WI, PA, AZ, NC, GA and FL.

They should just have a trap door button that makes Trump fall through the floor when he refuses to shut up. He claimed today that he doesn't even know who the proud boys are. Yeah, I'm sure.

Biden said Trump was a national embarrassment last night. He's a national embarrassment every single day.

The Republican Party has been a national embarrassment since at least 1999. Maybe 1994.

I was in my last year of law school in 2008 when Obama was elected. We had groups of volunteer students who had coordinated with law schools in the US and were going to drive down to offer to drive people to the polls. At first, it was supposed to be in Pennsylvania. Then they told us we weren't needed there because PA was a lock and to go to Virginia. Then a week or so before the election we were no longer needed in VA and were asked to instead go to North Carolina. At which point it was decided that (a) Obama has this in the bag and (b) we weren't going to drive 15 hrs if it was in the bag.

I guess the debate wasn't all bad...

From 9 p.m. to midnight, the Biden campaign brought in nearly $10 million from 215,000 donors, including more than 60,000 new contributors.

Nearly 100,000 signed up to volunteer for the Biden campaign during the debate.

Greensburg, PA. Pop. 14,000 - Western PA, red county won by Trump by almost 31 points.

Here are people waiting for Joe to arrive on his stop there at a construction machinery plant today.
