Definitely. I am sickened by deBlasio and Cuomo's gaslighting of the NYPD's conduct. Whatever small amount of respect I felt for Cuomo during the pandemic has gone in the toilet and well, deBlasio could always go fuck himself in my opinion.

On top of this, you see the mentality of police themselves. A look into the FCC books of who is donating to politicians sees 80% of police supporting Trump. When the Marmalade Molester has an approval of 43%. You see a group of people just itching to be able to use more force, not be held accountable and do their job without consequences.

Biden today:

"It's time for him to step out of his bunker," Biden says, and understand the impact of his words. Adds that "a president who won't accept responsibility for handling of pandemic and economic fallout can't claim credit for anything now"

Biden says he plans to soon unveil a "real jobs plan." Americans "need jobs that bring dignity and they need it now. They need equal justice and equal opportunity, and they need it now."

It seems to me that it's revolutionary in your view, then. Which is the entire point I was making in using the word revolution. I don't think most of what I outlined are particularly revolutionary ideas. It's only in the warped view of this country's absolutely fucked politics that people would think universal healthcare and not bombing innocent foreign people for their resources is a revolutionary idea.

The NYPD has also explicitly threatened de Blasio's family during this time. There are no good cops.

When you see enough "bad apples", you have to start looking at the tree...

I don't know...I think we'll need some hearings to be sure. Get Hillary to testify again, she has to be involved somehow.

Washington DC paints huge 'Black Lives Matter' mural on street leading up to White House

John Haltiwanger
Jun 5, 2020, 11:34 AM

A giant "Black Lives Matter" mural has been painted on a street leading up to the White House at the request of Washington, DC, Mayor Muriel Bowser.

Work on the mural, which stretches across two blocks on 16th Street, began early on Friday morning, according to CNN.

The mayor tweeted a video of the mural on Friday, and in a separate tweet said: "The section of 16th street in front of the White House is now officially 'Black Lives Matter Plaza'."

"There was a dispute this week about whose street this week about whose street this is. Mayor Bowser wanted to make it abundantly clear that this is DC's street and to honor demonstrators who peacefully protested on Monday evening," Bowser's chief of staff, John Falcicchio, said in a tweet regarding the mural.

Responding to Bowser's decision to designate the area as "Black Lives Matter Plaza," BlackLivesMatter DC tweeted: "THIS IS INSANE!"

In a separate tweet, BlackLivesMatterDC said: "This is a performative distraction from real policy changes. Bowser has consistently been on the wrong side of BLMDC history. This is to appease white liberals while ignoring our demands. Black Lives Matter means defund the police."

The nation's capital has experienced massive protests over police brutality in recent days following the death of George Floyd, an unarmed black man who died after a Minneapolis police officer knelt on his neck for roughly eight minutes.

A huge number of National Guard troops have been called into the city in response to the protests, which have been met with violence by police at times. Earlier this week, protesters were teargassed and beaten with batons to clear the way for President Donald Trump to take a photo with a bible at St. John's Episcopal Church. Trump's photo-op prompted widespread criticism, including from the president's former secretary of defense, and comparisons with the tactics of authoritarian regimes.

The mural is on the same road as the church and leads up to the White House as well.

Bowser on Friday requested that Trump withdraw "all extraordinary federal law enforcement and military presence from our city".Click image for larger version

Bill de Blasio is an incompetent tool who used his own son as a prop to get himself elected.

That being said, he's in an impossible situation. His time in office began with a full on revolt by the police unions against him. Now he's turned the other direction and he's getting treated in the same way he treats groundhogs.

It's the police union, led by Pat Lynch in NY. It's way too strong. A strong police union is what kept Chauvin employed despite all of the complaints.

But how does a political party that is otherwise staunchly pro union attack this issue?

i still don't get what you mean by a revolution. be specific. what will you do? how will you enact these reforms? how will you win over people who disagree with you?

i don't find your views revolutionary. i find them maybe leftist, not quite fringe, fueled by outrage and lacking in nuance, but nothing i've never heard of before. it could be your absolutist framing and Manichean outlook that makes these views, in your view, revolutionary.

"No good cops" is definitely bullshit. But it doesn't help when you see something like this...

https://twitter.com/elopezgross/stat...88465171087365

Seriously, why would any "good cop" do this? Let alone 57 of them?

And this brings a whole new meaning to "good cop, bad cop"

Agreed. This is horseshit. There are real systemic problems with policing. These people should be fired and face criminal charges.

I know good cops. Let’s focus on the system not the individuals.

The police unions are a problem here.

But the ultimate problem is your typical voter. The police has become a sacred cow in the public sector - politicians are all too happy to vilify lazy teachers who get summers off, nurses, janitors, garbage pick up and basically everyone else but the police who are the highest paid by far (at least here). And anytime someone proposes cuts, you have the voters scared into thinking that the angry mob is coming for their cars and houses and god knows what else. The unions spend a lot on lobbying but our fellow citizens have voted like idiots all over the world.
