Good to hear that antimalarials appear to be promising as a treatment this early.

The side effects of those are wild. I remember some borderline psychotic dreams when I was on them.

They called yesterday saying there was a hiring freeze and she wouldn't be starting. So she is now jobless with no way to get unemployment benefits.

Any lawyery people on here? I get a hiring freeze, but it would seem that would mean future hires, and it seems that she WAS already hired. Just kind of shitting my pants right now.
I'm not a lawyer, but if you're in the US I would start by calling your state's dedicated phone number for coronavirus help. If they have one. They could perhaps give you numbers to call.

That's tough though because they're swamped with calls. I had an issue and couldn't even get a call back from that number. So I called my Congressional rep's local office. They did call me back with an answer. They're working from home.

Also try your Governor's office, all their phone numbers. I called mine this morning, their 800 number. A person answered after a few rings. It depends upon how busy they are, but keep trying.

Would also call your state's Dept of Labor and Atty General's office.

Not sure which ones are being tested for COVID-19, but there are other malaria pills nowadays with much less significant side effects (you just need to start taking them for a longer period of time before and after going to a place that might require them). I've always taken those when I've been to malaria hot spots and they work fine.

That’s great because I think there was a low compliance rate with the older generation ones because people couldn’t cope with the side effects.

They are old drugs chloroquine and hydroxychloroquine. Most drugs being used at the moment in trials are relatively old antivirals and other old drugs.

Colleagues in my work are part of a trial testing out a range of drugs, led by the WHO.

Thank you SO much. Looking at the GOP relief check thing. It looks like I probably will get nothing from that. Even though our income is now below the 75k, I'm sure they go on last year's income tax numbers. So yeah. screwed there.

But I will definitely make calls to those you suggested. I really appreciate it.

I'm going to say something shocking. Something I never in a million years thought I would ever say. Sigh... here goes

Tucker Carlson is right.

That just goes to show you how brazen she is, and how at this point they are operating under the absolutely correct assumption that they can get away with anything.

Is this the sort of thing that will make Pelosi do something beyond argue against helping people through the crisis?
