The Purge of the last two weeks will ensure that the entire force of the federal government will squash all news of wrong doing by the administration.

But it's also going to be used to launch investigations and pursue right wing conspiracy theories about whomever the Democratic nominee is.

We've already lost.

I was told not to call it a purge...

This is why Pelosi and the Dems waiting for so long to actually do something has backfired.

While he was never going to be impeached, we could have had open hearings on all the shit to at least slow or even pressure people to do the right thing.

Now we have a government filled with moronic white supremacists

Anyone who doesn't call it a purge either isn't paying attention or is being wilfully ignorant. Even if the rank and file isn't fully impacted yet, a) all of the people on top are woefully unqualified loyalists, b) give it time.

The slope isn't slippery. It's a cliff.

They've broken down the last firewalls, and did it while we were arguing over which left of Obamacare health care policy was the leftiest.

I don't think there's anything the Democrats could have done as long as the republican party was willing to blindly follow their chosen demigod.

If they did it before Bill Barr they might have had a chance of getting more documents and witnesses. That might have helped, but I'm not sold.

I would put "he's going to cheat again in the open and nobody's going to do anything about it's as #1 with a bullet.

I'm not sold the nominee matters - as much as I agree that Sanders is the worst possible answer.

This.

They’ve had 4 years to organize and further gaslight the general population.

https://news.gallup.com/poll/286280/trump-job-approval-steady.aspx

49% approval. A net positive approval over disapproval.

43% of independents approve of Trump (no word on how many of those are solid independent conservatives).

63% of U.S. adults rate current economic conditions as either excellent or good. Just 9% rate them as poor.

By 61% to 33%, Americans say the economy is getting better rather than worse

But yes - a socialist who wants to burn down capitalism is going to swing the tide away form a literal caricature of the worst parts of capitalism.

Oh, and he's going to cheat. Hard.

And the government and courts are set up for a Trump “loss” as well.

Quotes because he will fight to stay in power. Russia helping the Sanders campaign is brilliant.

It gives the Trump government the number one excuse to call any Democratic win RIGGED or invalid.

I know no one cares nor should they-but I'm voting early this week and I'm not voting for Bernie. It will most likely be Warren and no I'm not voting for a woman for the sake of a woman. She has plans for how certain ideas will be paid for, Bernie doesn't seem to have many concrete plans. If the Senate stays the same it's a moot point anyway, nothing will get passed.

Was considering Bloomberg as an option until the sexual harassment stuff came out. Last straw was his answer to Warren that his involvement was maybe a few women who didn't like his "jokes". It's not locker room talk or jokes, I've dealt with it in my own life and it's degrading and demoralizing. Harvey Weinstein is probably about to be acquitted or a hung jury, that's depressing enough...

Obviously Bloomberg hasn't even learned enough in decades to not call it jokes, so that's a no for me. And there's the stop and frisk and racist comments and who knows what else.

I support Sanders if he's the nominee, he's not my choice and I don't believe he will defeat Trump. Bloomberg has the money to go up against Trump, but right now he's a trainwreck and he was in that debate. Hate to say it but right now I don't believe any of them can beat Trump.

And Stephen Miller is an evil scary person who has tremendous influence over Trump. It's sickening.

I was leaning towards Klobuchar because of her experience and more moderate positions, but when I saw her get rattled by Mayor Pete in that last debate I couldn't see her doing well against Trump. And yes the way Warren eviscerated Bloomberg scored points for me. I would pay to see her debate Trump.

I have to wonder if the debate took place before early voting if Warren would have done better yesterday

It looks like Tulsi may end up with about 100 votes in NV. I can't wait to see how she does in Super Tuesday!!

Bernie might pick her for VP if he's nominated. I watched a TV segment about her and they have a longtime friendship . VP was mentioned as a possibility. Of course it's all speculation at this point.

Tom Steyer is at 18% in South Carolina

My question on Steyer still stands. What the fuck is he doing?

He's going to put the final nail in Biden. If Steyer goes onto super tuesday, he will split votes with Bloomberg.

I don't think I'm overstating that Steyer may single-handedly escort Bernie to the nomination.

Seriously not in a million years. I know there was Bernie/Tulsi crossover in 2016. Which just annoyed me more with Bernie. But this time around, it seems like not only Bernie, but his supporters have dropped her like a rock.

I think the only two options for Bernie that would help him in the general, is to do a sort of "unity" ticket. Sanders/Klobuchar, or go a sort of lesser version of that with Sanders/Harris, or go with a Sanders/Abrams ticket. Which, in the end i think would be best. She is a powerful speaker and is brilliant and talented and driven. She would bring in a larger swath of black voters (not just the youngs) she would open up GA as a state of play, would probably make NC solid for Bernie, would hopefully be a great pairing to bring out the most broad electorate in MI, WI, and PA. And who knows, might even make TX a possibility.

This would be disqualifying for me. And I mean that seriously.

I'd have to agree. I could never put her within a thousand miles of of the White House.

But again, i don't think there is a chance in hell he would be that stupid. i think Sanders can make a lot of stupid choices. That would be monumentally stupid.

I think one main deciding factor for Warren to drop out before Super Tuesday, is if she thinks she may lose Mass.
And as of now, I think that is a very high probability.

My prediction is we have 2 billionaires ,one Democratic Socialist, and for some inexplicable reason Mayor Pete in Super Tuesday. You know, because he did well in 2 nearly all white states, he has fancied himself the alternative to Bernie.

This means a good 4 to 10 percent of the vote siphoned off of Bloomberg in many states. And Bernie waltzes to the nomination.

i don't think there's a chance in hell he picks gabbard after the spat she had with hillary clinton a couple months back. i certainly hope not - she needs to be kept the hell out of the white house. i don't even want bernie to give her a job in the administration.

Is there a reason the House hasn’t subpoena Bolton? Or held more open hearings on staff firings ?

It’s like the democrats assume election will be business as usual.

Their failure to do their basic duties of office is a reason we are where we are

I really hope Bernie picks Stacey Abrams, it’ll help with voter turnout and she’s a rising star who deserves a bigger platform. Tulsi Gabbard sucks so much shit and Bernie would be a dumbass if he picked her to be VP.

I haven't posted in this part of the forum in ages, but I had to share this video of a very intelligent and observant progressive pundit calling out MSNBC on-air for the questionable background of some of their analysts, and the head-in-the-sand mentality of some of its outdated elite commentators.

It's quite something to watch. Hopefully this leads to the network rethinking their position and strategy.

Great post.

Btw... The off-hand and casual 'Nazi' related comments to go after our political opponents, whoever they may be, are really unfortunate. It's more than a pet peeve of mine.

Sanders' VP pick is as critical as any in history because of his age. He can't afford to have someone as VP who would roll back his commitment to key issues, because he's likely bringing someone who would be the 2024 candidate. I wouldn't be surprised to see Turner as his VP choice. If it's someone with more national experience, it'll probably be someone like Tammy Baldwin. She's not totally aligned with him on everything, but full commitment to M4A has to be the starting point, and she is there.

No chance it's Gabbard. And I think Warren burned the bridge through her campaigning. She went on TV shortly after the Nevada debate to say Sanders was running to be the president of "getting angry and yelling" or something similar. He's not bringing her along on the ticket. And frankly, that's good, because I don't see what states she would help him in.

Turner has showed poor judgment on a number of occasions.

Even if Warren was his BFF there is no way you are going to have a ticket with the combined age of over 150.

Yeah, agreed on both Gabbard and Warren. Gabbard went off the deep end and pretty much disqualified herself from any consideration of future federal positions of any sort, IMO. Warren, on the other hand... I don’t think the bridge burning is really a thing with Sanders. Calling him the president of getting angry and yelling is the softest way she can shit talk him without it being remembered. But I would argue her ivory tower Massachusetts liberal elite 70+ year old thing really is of absolutely no benefit to Sanders ticket. But I wouldn’t be surprised to see her emerge in his admin if he were to win.

Warren should stay in the Senate if she doesn't become president. Massachusetts has a Republican governor. She becomes VP, or takes a cabinet position, it's handing her seat to the GOP, and we need every seat we can get.

It shouldn't be Nina Turner. I don't mind her generally, but I don't think she has the discipline to campaign as a VP candidate. Like Anitram said, she's already said some unfortunate things recently.

Thinking outside the box - what about Yang?

I agree that Warren brings very little to the ticket for Sanders. Maybe a little bit more comfort to suburban women, which may be good. But age is an issue for sure and doesn't bring any more diversity to the ticket.

I think Jerry said Turner. Yikes. That would be a hard no. I personally find her hard to listen to for more than a couple minutes and I think would be more harmful than helpful to his ticket.

Baldwin would be a good idea to seal up WI. With Abrams and Baldwin both from swingable states. I would hope they would be at the top of the list.
