Hope I’m wrong but i think Bernie loses by 40+ states.

Does he win any Southern states ? Doubtful.
Does he win Nevada, Arizona, Texas (all
Three are potential Blue with right person)? No
Does he win the Rust Belt? Hard to say. A lot of middle to upper middle class people vote with their self interests. The MAGA crowd won’t vote for a socialist. The suburbs crowd don’t want higher taxes or “lose” their insurance.

I’ll vote Blue no matter who. But I’m in Cali and it doesn’t matter

Have you actually thought about this or did you just choose 10 as a nice round number? You seem to be missing the idea that Clinton indeed lost every possible state she could minus Virginia, Minnesota, and Nevada. And she still ended up with like 20. But let’s get super defensible...

California
Oregon
Washington
Hawaii
Illinois
Maryland
Delaware
New Jersey
New York
Connecticut
Massachusetts
Rhode Island
New Hampshire
Vermont
Maine

You need to pull off five from that list. New Jersey??? You can’t. And you’re also assuming the guy doesn’t go flip states like Pennsylvania and Michigan etc.

I don’t know where you’re coming up with this stuff. Go check theoretical national polls, he has half the country just like any other blue candidate.

We won’t know until we do! All this is theory. No one thought Trump would win either.

I don’t think Bernie will do well on a national stage.

If he’s the nomination maybe he kills it!!

I’m pretty confident if Biden wins the nomination he’ll fracture the party again.

I’ll start by saying this isn’t fair. No one ever asks the GOP candidate how they’ll pay for tax cuts (cause they’ll pay for themselves!!!) or wars or how cutting social programs is the answer

But Bernie is going to get this every single interview and debate.

He better have a good answer

Huh? This is why conservatives say that liberals (especially Bernie liberals) don’t understand basic economics

Conservatives certainly understand how to explode the national debt and give tax breaks to the wealthy.

My honest hope for you is not that you’ll, like, suddenly become liberal, but that you come to realize the conservatives in power think you’re an idiot and are continuously fleecing you and handing your money to people much wealthier than you.

Pompeo is a pompous ass. How dare he treat Mary Louise Kelly that way?

Guaranteed that Trump can't find Ukraine on a blank map. Even USA and Canada would be questionable.

Pompous ass? Exactly what jumped in my mind when I heard this!

And Liar vs Mary Louis's e-mail trail.

There really is a remarkable pattern with how these thugs respond to intelligent women who question or challenge them.
Ya think, huh? Grrrr, bastards!

It's no wonder that they chose to follow a man who oozes misogyny from every pore of his massive body.
Ewwwwwwww. :yuck:

Everyone who has Republican Senators call and demand witnesses
(you never know if there could be a tipping point)
This is a cynicism -free zone!

I know the first # was def working last month. Not sure about other two. (there used to be five)

FREE CONGRESS CALLS

(866) 338 - 1015

(877) 762 - 8762

(888) 291 - 9824

The truth is, neither side wants to discuss basic economics anymore.

I’ve been lashed at when I asked Bernie supporters how they plan on paying for some of their programs, and Trump supporters will shutdown or change the subject when you bring up tariffs or the deficit.

You have a sitting president that stated we’re paying down the deficit because the stock market was climbing on Hannity, and not ONE single Republican corrected him.

And neither side seems willing to speak how a “social” and free market hybrid healthcare solution could save money, improve payment, and still garner innovation. But no, we’ve become too locked down in our either/or(s) to get anything done.

we're all fucked

The defense from Bernie Sanders was straightforward: It wasn’t me.

He had been milling about on the Senate floor one day in the summer of 2017 when a colleague, Kamala Harris, stepped toward him. “Do we have a problem?” Ms. Harris asked, according to Democrats familiar with the exchange.

Some prominent Sanders supporters had been flaming Ms. Harris publicly as the preferred choice of the corporate Democratic establishment against which Mr. Sanders had long railed, a view amplified among Sanders-boosting accounts across social media. “Pre-emptive strike,” one person wrote on the popular SandersForPresident Reddit group, where Sanders fans were sharing details of Ms. Harris’s recent fund-raising swing in the Hamptons with former Hillary Clinton donors. “Start the conversation now, end it before 2020.”

Mr. Sanders assured Ms. Harris that there was no issue, the Democrats familiar with their conversation said. He insisted that he could not control how his followers communicated.

But two years later, as both senators pursued the party’s 2020 presidential nomination and Ms. Harris returned to the Hamptons to collect campaign checks, Mr. Sanders broadcast an observation of his own after Ms. Harris raised doubts about his “Medicare for all” plan. “I don’t go to the Hamptons to raise money from billionaires,” he tweeted last August, elevating a message that supporters had already been pushing. Thousands of retweets followed.

Some progressive activists who declined to back Mr. Sanders have begun traveling with private security after incurring online harassment. Several well-known feminist writers said they had received death threats. A state party chairwoman changed her phone number. A Portland lawyer saw her business rating tumble on an online review site after tussling with Sanders supporters on Twitter.

Whether fans of Bernie want to admit it or not, a significant contingent of his most rabid supporters are nuts.

It’s humorous that content continues to be posted about Bernie, but not actually about Bernie. Some democratic donor with a bunch of money travels with security now and we are supposed to buy into some big conspiracy that Bernie is requesting these people be harassed lol

oh no the republican who wrote speeches for george w bush is making vague threats that bernie sanders can't win. this is extra scary because he has such a good record with making electoral predictions.

"bernie loses by 40+ states because reasons" fucking lmao  i like that this forum is going full mask-off mode now and you guys are just copy-pasting blatant GOP propaganda.

Bernie lost to Clinton by millions of votes.

Yet we're supposed to believe he beats Trump on the big stage?

There's a reason the GOP want Bernie or Warren, and why Trump has broken laws to take Biden down.

lol apparently you really took what hillary said last week as the infallible word of god. bernie is now suddenly so bad and dangerous and such an inevitably doomed loser (as he's rising in all the polls exactly one week before votes start being cast) that we need to start taking advice from republicans about who the democrats should nominate.

I don't think he's bad. I honestly don't know enough about him. I support a majority of his policies. I'll vote for him in the general election without thinking twice. I consider the well being of others when I vote, do you think most Americans vote that way? Or with their wallet?

Frum's point in the article is that Bernie has never been challenged. Ever. He doesn't handle criticism well. Trump and the GOP don't play by any rules.

He'll hammer Bernie every which way.

Do you honestly believe Bernie has it in him to handle it?

i honestly believe that bernie has it in him to handle it far better than any of the other candidates that actually have a chance of winning.

biden on a debate stage next to trump is going to look like a doddering old man completely out of his depth. trump is going to talk nonsense circles around him about hunter biden and ukraine and biden is going to be on a confused defensive 100% of the time on that bullshit in every debate and we all know it.

warren seems like she could take the heat but i don't know if she has it in her to lean in to dishing it back (which is going to be necessary).

mayor pete is an empty shirt who will just respond in whatever way he thinks his audience wants to hear on any given day but his odds of being on that stage are slim to none anyways.

at least with bernie you know he's going to counter-attack with both barrels.

I hope he can. I am basing this off of my own perception of him. I tend to agree with Frum's article knowing full well his background. It could be fear mongering by an old guard.

Bernie had a heart attack just a few months ago. When it was Clinton being faint the whole world thought she was going to die. There's definitely a double standard and it's fair to question whether he can hold up when the spotlight is completely on him.

It doesnt really matter who wins the Dem side, they are going to face the worst smearing, barbaric campaign probably ever thrown.

I don't even know if Biden can handle it at his age. How can you fight against someone who doesn't believe in anything but holding on to power?

bernie is my preferred candidate but yeah his age does concern me, as it does with all four of the leading candidates. frankly three of them are too old and the other one is too young. the running mate choice is going to be extra important for whoever wins.
