You know, I was just thinking today, that voting is not enough. We need to drastically change this country in order to prevent anything akin to the GOP to have such power. Sure, we may be able to vote enough Republicans out of office and replace them with Democrats, but that won't stop the authoritarian, bigoted, liberal-hating Americans from doing all they can to do the same thing - vote the Democrats out and replace them with their own kind. It will be back and forth, back and forth. No, you need to get to the root of this problem and then cut out the cancer. It's like going to the Mothership and destroying the base there.
And the thing is, Democrats are leaning more towards socialism apparently, while Republicans are leaning towards fascism. Can't get anymore different and divided.
The one thing that gives me hope is that young people, 35 and younger, are mostly left-leaning (I think they are?). Sure, you would always have the right-leaning in this demographic. But if young people are against the Christian Right, racism, patriarchy, and everything else the GOP represents, then maybe there is hope for this country. Too bad it will take eons to fix itself out, and by then, there would be a huge mess left to clean up.
