My hope would be that even if this happens he’s an albatross on the party and brings it down in 2018 and even more in 2020. Voting is GOP kryptonite.

The Green platform is actually really not very progressive at all aside from their environmental policies. Many of them are very fiscally conservative and have a strong libertarian bent. Anyway those are the ones that are informed Green voters, my impression has always been that a huge chunk have no idea what they’re actually voting for beyond “free willy”. Not really fertile grounds for vote pick ups for either party IMO.

As a side note I don’t understand having this special election in Ohio 3 months before the seat being up for re-election. What a colossal waste of time and $.

Thank you. The Greens are not the leftist alternative the Democrats have tried to make them about to be. I don't believe I've ever met a Green voter.

Still, the entitlement of the Dems is astounding.

At least the Democrats aren’t actively hunting down Willy with harpoons while drinking seal blood like the GOP. If these dipshits cared about anyone but themselves they’d realize that.

Yeah, again, this whole notion of trying to get the voters who vote for non-Dem candidates isn't going to work.

Agreed. If these people can’t see beyond themselves I don’t think time should be wasted on them. Doesn’t mean we can’t be angry at their self-absorption and preciousness, but trying to lure them into the fold with platforms that will put off independent voters isn’t a good idea.

Focus on running the right candidates in the right districts, and recruiting real talent. It’s the candidate him/herself that matters most to people who actually vote. That’s why I’ve heard more than once “my racist grandparents voted for Obama twice.” Because he was a great candidate.

I just can’t get over the idea of “if i don’t get EXACTLY what i want, I’m out!!”

I didn’t know being progressive meant you shut out all other opinions or point of views.

While i agree that in today’s climate a Dem should never work with the GOP. I suppose one silver lining to Trump is that they’ve finally come out of hiding as a white nationalist party.

Any dem who still thinks the GOP is salvageable at the moment is wrong.

So the most important thing is to get them out. If it means you back a Dem who would be considered a Rep decades ago, so be it. Not all republicans of the past were evil like today.

Instead we get this attitude of taking my ball home, game over cause i didn’t get the exact version of the game i wanted.

There is no fucking way we see the same dangers, chaos, and overall incompetence if Clinton is sitting in that chair.

Maybe we have a chance in 2018 midterms, but i personally think it’s too late. I’m still voting straight blue tho with the hope I’m wrong

Agreed, BEAL.

Regarding that tweet on the previous page-would I vote for or support a candidate that would actively work to restrict women's right to have an abortion? No.

But if a Democratic candidate was personally pro-life, yet, instead of pushing to restrict women's right to an abortion, supported things like comprehensive sex ed in schools, easy and affordable access to birth control, an affordable healthcare system that allows women, whatever choice they make, to be properly and safely taken care of, good wages for women, programs/aid to help women who've been victims of rape, and things of that sort? Then yes, despite the fact that I'm personally pro-choice, I would absolutely be fine with voting for that kind of candidate. Because they would actually be putting their money where their mouth is and supporting policies that would tackle that issue in a sensible and beneficial way.

If I do align politically on every single issue with a politician running for office, then hey, fantastic, we're good to go right out the gate . But if I agree with them some of the time, well, I figure that's at least a start. It's still a much better option than being stuck with a politician whose policies I don't agree with at all. And if I can agree with a candidate on some things to start with, I figure that means it'll probably be easier to find more common ground on other things as time goes on, and they'll be likely to listen to what I have to say and what I want them to do in office.

Oh, good, that's just what we need, Florida's election system to be in the news again during an election cycle .

Seriously, I know our administration's response to the hacking stuff has been pitiful, to say the very least, but is ANYONE else trying to do anything to help try and stop this? Are there any tech people throughout the states who know how to combat this sort of hacking who are volunteering to help out come election time, or are state governments trying to do something, or what? And if not, then we need to start putting pressure on them to step up and help us out.

Or, of course, can we just demand/require all the votes be by paper ballot instead?

Trump reportedly likes to TiVo his rallies and watch them later like game film. He especially likes the lines that are "evidence of his brilliance".
Ugh...

Yeah, very good to hear that bit of news from Missouri . I will happily take any good political stories happening that are out there. It's a good reminder that not all hope is lost and the tide can still turn, even if the change is slow.

I'm not saying that to disparage the Democrats as much as I'm saying it to say that I would be willing to talk about the notion of compromise in a political climate in which the viewpoints of the Democratic Party constituted the right wing. They're capitalists, and that's right wing economics no matter how much kvetching they do about the social issues. Calling for compromise makes zero sense when even centrism is only a smidge to the left of fascism.

And this is why we’re screwed.

Both extremes; Cult45 and antifa are so completely lost and willing to watch it all burn.
