And now FLOTUS Melania Trump just released a statement saying she "hates" families being separated and wants "both sides" to work together to come up with immigration reform

1) I have no concept of how anyone could see what we're doing at the southern border is anything other than morally appalling, and that's completely irrespective of beliefs on illegal immigration. This is just ruining lives. This is horrid.
2) Melania's plea is a joke, but that leads to a bigger point...
3) Trump is literally trying to gaslight all of the United States by blaming this on Democrats and pretending to care, but then trying to use the crisis to force THE WALL to happen
4) ugh fuck it's absolutely horrible, appalling, ridiculous, and insane that Trump is POTUS and that the GOP just falls in line time and time again

Absolutely disgusting what is happening! And the fact that trump is blaming it on the democrats saying it’s their law and he hates seeing what is happening makes me sick to my stomach. If it were true, he has reversed or tried to reverse many laws the democrats imposed, all the sudden with this law he can’t do anything about it? What a disgusting pos. First of all the democrats never made any such law that tore parents from their kids and again if there was trump could easily change it. If he hates so much what is happening to the kids then do your fucking job and change it. But ofcourse he will not because this was his doing, and now he is trying to save himself by blaming the democrats and his supporters like always are eating it up!
 
My mom made a good point about Trump trying to blame this all on the Democrats and saying he's simply following a law they set out-okay, let's go with his warped logic for a moment...since when has Trump ever wanted to willingly follow and support a Democratic policy? He's spent his entire presidency thus far eagerly attempting to dismantle every single thing the Democrats want and support. The media should comment on that rather noticeable contradiction more.

he's lying - there is no such law!

Trump has repeatedly referred to a Democratic law. He appears to be referring to one enacted in 2008 that was signed by a Republican president, George W Bush. It was focused on freeing and helping children who come to the border without a parent or guardian and did not call for family separation

This cannot be the solution. The only way that the US understands how to intervene outside of its borders is through drone strikes.

The answer is a non-interventionist policy and open borders.

:up: this is the right answer. but i am also in favour of increased humanitarian aid through NGOs and international organizations like the UN and red cross for those who can't make the trip. we need more internationalism, not less.

How many crimes are happening this way? How many undocumented people are being abused because they are afraid to report? But thank God there are all these God-fearing Christians down in Texas and Arizona, their disgust is deafening.

You should really talk to someone about your anti-Christian bigotry. The fact that you try to blame "God fearing Christians" for these tragic and sad events (which have been going on for many years by the way) says more about you than it does about Christians.

We should ALL try to be part of the solution. It's funny though when anti-God people always expect Christians to do something. if it wasn't for Christians, there wouldn't be as many homeless shelters, orphanages, food pantries, and food banks as there is.

Maybe the athiests should step up and do something. The arrogance and hypocrisy is disgusting on your part.

i have utmost respect for other branches of Christianity, like Methodists etc., true Christians who practice what they preach who actually follow the teachings of Jesus, who care for the poor and vulnerable, who aren't judgemental bigots, but the Trump supporting evangelical freaks can go to hell

yes, your outrage and disgust in this situation should definitely be focused towards "anti-christian bigotry", and not the fact that there are literal concentration camps for children in the united states today being used for the express purpose of destroying poor families looking for a better life.

you're more upset at some unkind words directed at an abstract group of people who aren't here reading this than you are about children being raped and abused and sold into human trafficking rings. you somehow managed to spin yourself as the poor victim in a story about children's lives being destroyed. that's sickening.

these are emphatically NOT the teachings of jesus christ, and are in fact the exact opposite. he did not preach to close your doors to the needy and destroy lives in the process to make an example out of them, as i recall from the last time i read the gospels. you should be ashamed to call yourself a christian if you support this policy in any way.
