Has anyone seen it? I'm kind of curious. If only Roseanne's voice wasn't so damn braying.

I admit to watching. But I’ll watch Laurie Metcalf do anything.

She, John Goodman, and especially Sarah Gilbert are worth it. I found it laugh out loud funny at times. Maybe because Wanda Sykes is a head writer?

I’m not sure if I’ll continue. I’ll have to think about it. I found it comforting in a way, reminded me of a time before smart phones.

Lots of people have been saying watch the reboot of One Day At A Time with Rita Moreno on Netflix instead. That it’s great, and horrible people aren’t profiting.

Hey, vlad

Let's see if I can finally post some kind of reply to you.

Interestingly enough today I heard an interview today with an author who saying how Putin is trying get rid of the heinous parts of Stalin's rule, and just leave him as the victorious winner against Hitler in WW2.

Anyway, with Vlad being your user name I thought you were Russian esp since Putin's first name is the same. i thought you were being overly supportive of the Russian government. Putin having come up through the KGB is still a Communist? Though he certainly seems to be in league with the Russian oligarchs, and other corruptive elements.
You're Belorussian, right? Interesting. What is life like in Beloruss? (Of, course, that can depend on many factors)

I'm half Ukrainian-American so I have no great love for the former Soviet Union, since they over took that country. (I'm not even referencing the Crimea since i don't know enough) There's some history I've only heard about recently that I have to look into.

I think also and I should have given you he benefit of the doubt that you could have missed it that I was annoyed that you never replied to a somewhat long post that was way overdue on my part about - what would I do to better the housing situation in the USA.
I tried to look it up in search so I could reference the post# but I can't get it to work on my tablet.

I think that's at least the basic gist of what I lost post-wise about a month ago. There might have been more .

I really never watched the show, maybe caught an episode or two flipping around. I did watch the first two episodes of the new show tonight, and thought it was pretty funny and well done. It's not my type of comedy, I'm more of a Curb person, so no idea if I'll continue watching, Probably not. I don't have much time for TV and am pretty selective about the shows I watch...I'm missing a lot of good stuff I know I'd like as it is. TV is amazing these days.

In any event, I'm very glad this show exists. The Connor family is about as far from my reality as you can get, and I really have nothing in common with them, but I think it's great that the half of America who voted for Trump has a show that they can call their own. I think it's silly to pretend all these people are evil, knuckle dragging white supremacists. That's just a caricature, and a stupid one at that. They remind me of some neighbours I had when a friend and I were renting a house while I was in law school. Really friendly, blue collar family that I have no doubt were Republicans.

Moreover, I didn't find the show pro-Trump, or right wing at all. I saw a lot of acceptance, and a lot of the political fights that I'm sure many families have had over the past couple years. People are complicated, families are complicated, lives are complicated, and most Americans don't live the silos. I think it's great that something like this is on, and I think it's great that it got such massive ratings....apparently the highest rated network sitcom in something like 16 years. It's not going anywhere no matter how many boycotts people have if the show continues to get ratings anywhere near that good. I hope it continues to be a massive success.

So to me, it's all good, and the haters who are freaking out about in on social media just want to further divide the country, at a time people really need to come together and see each other as human beings, not Trump or Clinton voters.

I never watched the original show, so I have no interest.

Oh, also Rosanne is an asshole in real life (aka Twitter), so I doubly have no interest.

I always try to separate the art from the artist. I don't know much about Roseanne's political views, except from what I've read they can range from the crazy to schizophrenic. And I don't care. I've been a music fan for a long time, and I'm sure I've given a lot of money to some real scum bags. Except in the most egregious cases, I'm not going to let someone's personal failings prevent me from enjoying their art (if I otherwise like it).

I am often able to separate art from artist. But it's a lot easier to do so when I had any interest in the artist to begin with.

Sure...like I said, I have to be interested in the artist in the first place of course.

In this case, I mostly tuned in to see what all the fuss was about, and thought it was all good natured and funny enough.

Right. But as has been said, Trump voters had no problems voting for evil, knuckle dragging, sexual assaulting, white supremacists.

They need to admit this.

For anyone who still wonders why evangelicals continue to support Trump despite his numerous personal failings, here's your answer...

A Prominent Liberal Judge From The 9th Circuit Court Has Died At 87

Judge Stephen Reinhardt — appointed to the appeals court in 1980 — died on Thursday, two days after his 87th birthday. President Trump will now get to appoint his successor.

For anyone who doesn't know, the 9th Circuit is considered to be the most liberal in the country. How liberal is it really? That's debatable, but Jimmy Carter really transformed the 9th, and I believe has the most Democratic appointees of any Circuit.

These Circuit court appointments are incredibly important, and whoever Trump appoints will potentially sit on there for decades. This is why they support him. These judges will be making decisions that impact millions long after Trump is gone and his personal life is a sleazy historical footnote.

Absolutely. It’s not a mystery why they support Trump — it’s just unthinkably hypocritical.

Really, political conservative Evangelicals are nothing more than an anti-choice organization. Sure, they’ll take the occasional moment to kick a gay if they can, but it’s really much more about controlling women’s bodies.

You are seriously the most ignorant, narrow minded, bigoted person on this forum. You are so knowledgeable about ALL "political conservative evangelicals". Again, replace that with Muslim and see how fast you get banned. Any idea about Muslim views on homosexuality and women's rights? Id love to hear your expert opinion.

One thing for sure, I like how you spit out the liberal kool aid of controlling women's bodies.....maybe, just maybe it's about the unborn baby's body, that's about to get ripped to pieces.

But oh yeah, we must preach gun control to "save children's lives,"

Spare me.

Thank you!

Wow, way to stereotype all Muslims. You are so knowledgeable about ALL Muslims. You are seriously the most ignorant, narrow-minded, bigoted on this forum.

There are liberal Muslims. There are gay Muslims. And Muslims in America tend to be much better educated than white evangelical Protestants in red states.

More interestingly, American Muslims don’t demand that the rest of the country be subject to their personal religious views. Nor are they particularly politically conservative.

Of course I abhor Muslim governments in the Middle East. But why are you making that comparison? As if that’s even what we’re talking about? That’s a pretty low bar you’ve set for yourself.

And you’re pretty obsessed with Muslims.

So I guess we’re back to the fact that maybe many Trump voters didn’t just willingly vote for a bigoted rapist, but they actually are bigots themselves.

Seems the hypocrisy is on you. All lives are sacred until they are out of the womb? and then they’re instantly beset with sin, and no health care or education and sent into a world awash with guns. You aren’t pro life, you’re pro birth.

If you actually cared about babies you’d be for universal health care, universal pre-K, universal and subsidized access to contraception, and comprehensive sex education.

If you’re for all those things, and wish to live in a world where every conception is wanted, that would be great. Prove me wrong.

Whataboutism

Muslims
Sharia law
Emails
Uranium One
Bernie got screwed!!

But what about the subject, Trump.

Drain the swamp
Hire the best people
Best stamina
I won’t have time to golf
Mexico will pay for it

Can’t have a talk about the failure he is (minus the tax cuts) without talking about something else completely unrelated

Essentially, the argument presented is, “oh yeah, we’ll at least I ain’t a Muslim.”

And they say Trump voters aren’t mindless bigots.

ok so i literally just spat my tea out

guess you don't know irvine very well at all then

remove the plank out of your eye dude - it seems to be blocking your view!!

But he wasn't hired to look into campaign finance violations with porn starts...

It would have to be a different case. Not Mueller. That's my point...Mueller won't be asking that kind of question that doesn't relate to the case at hand like Starr, even though this one is a lot closer to relevance than Starr's question.

Unless the money came from Russian operatives. Then, bingo

Late to the Roseanne thing, but I have a friend whose daughter is a comedian and made it to the final 4 or 8 (think 4) on Last Comic Standing. Emily is a former History major who went into teaching before going into comedy, and her standups, though veering more political these days, were at that time more regular standup peppered with historical references. Since then, she has been protested by the Catholic League for her stand up on Conan, but she kept it relatively tame on this show.

Roseanne was a judge and gave some compliments for delivery, etc, but criticized her for being "too smart" in her humor.

It seemed to be a perfect Roseanne response...don't be too smart, and for God's sake, don't be a smart woman.

politically active muslim fundamentalists that want to control women's bodies are also amoral hypocrites who should be kept as far away from politics as possible.

okay, now let's see how fast i get banned.

I was just going to say, we all know WHY evangelicals voted for him.

I’m personally glad that their craven hypocrisy is out in the open like this. No disinfectant like a little sunshine.

Well, you can call it hypocrisy. Some would call it strategic thinking. Who were evangelicals going to vote for, HRC, who would be crafting policies and appointing judges that run contrary to what these evangelicals say they believe? Give me a break. They had two choices and they chose the guy who would best push the policies and people they cared for forward.

BTW, I'm not saying you're necessarily wrong. I'm sure that many of them are hypocrites. No doubt about that. Most of us are in one way or the other, especially when it comes to politics where tribalism is at play. And I think many of them are probably hypocrites because they cheat on their spouse, or are closet gay, or for any number of personal "failings" that they condemn publicly.

But I think this is a political choice, and as I've said before, I understand the ones who made the same bargain with Trump that feminists made with Clinton. Who I don't understand are those who really believe he's one of them.
