Well from what I've read, the accusation came in 2001, as part of a filing in the midst of a messy divorce/custody battle. Anyone familiar with such things knows all kinds of accusations are thrown back and forth in a divorce proceedings to gain leverage. Furthermore, Oldman denies the allegations, which were reportedly investigated by both the police and DA, and no charges were filed. As an aside, he was awarded sole custody of the children in the case, as apparently his wife was struggling with mental health issues.

So what you have is a 17 year old unproven allegation. While you may think that's enough to state authoritatively that he "beats up women", I'm going to put that in the we don't know what happened category.
