Is there a country or government that’s exists that doesn’t have some form of corruption or past history of evils?

No, but I also don't think that means we should accept it and give up in trying to do something better.

Also, let's not pretend that the FBI is not up to a lot of awful shit in the present day.

That all depends if the Dems can stop the infighting over where the party should go. Become socialist (loose term) or still stay centrist.
This matters less now than it will post Trump.

I'm not saying it's not an issue that needs to be addressed... but the reality is most Americans don't care as much as we might about the political process - but they will come out in droves either in support of a particular candidate, or in opposition to one.

We are seeing huge turnouts in opposition to Trump in the few elections that we've had. Forget Alabama... look at Virginia. They're on the verge of taking back the state house. Republicans had a 66-34 advantage pre-Trump, and the house currently sits 50-49 with one race still deadlocked and in the courts, and a Democrat in the governor's office to break ties.

That's a 16-17 delegate swing. That's crazy.

Once this stain on our government is over, I honestly don't see a way either of our parties can stay together long term. But in the short term, the Democrats have a clear path to taking back everything in 2018 and 2020.

Solid post.

It started out Christmas Eve Day to ignore the news so I could be free of distraction, upset etc for getting ready for the holiday.
Then I decided to keep it going. I've been News Free except for the weather (as I am not in, like, Hawaii) and have kept it going.
It doesn't keep me from being from being totally free from worrying about big stuff... but the volume is turned down, more intermittently  !

And I don't have to (not offensive, just...loud).

LISTEN TO THAT
HORRID MAN!!!!! :scream:
and I don't mean Bono, tho that remark was really!!???

I dropped in to wish FYM'rs a

Safe, Healthy, Happy, Prosperous, Fun, Creative, Loving New Year 2018 !

(and an increase in any of those aspects above that might be low, or lacking to anyone here)

Hope also that your early holiday time was nice!
See you around 1/2, or 1/3. :D

Coffee boy really done screwed this all up.

Had he kept his mouth shut.....

Whatever you do, please don't glorify Alexander Downer just because he happened to be blind drunk at an opportune time. That and he's utter trash.

He also just accused his own DOJ of being part of the DEEP STATE

For the first time in 60 years, there wasn’t a single passenger death on scheduled commercial jet flights anywhere in the world in 2017.

Guess who just took credit for that?

For anyone curious:

The United States civil airspace has not seen a commercial aviation death since 2009.

The United States civil airspace has not seen a narrow body or wide body jet aircraft death since 9/11 and the 11/2/01 crash in New York that everyone feared was terrorism but was actually just an accident.

The US and Europe have always had safer airspace than the rest of the world.

Think I'm gonna take off work to live tweet the Fake News Awards, it's gonna be the funniest event of the year

According to my 10th grade history text book, Reagan didn’t know that South America was multiple countries prior to visiting the continent. And people gave W all sorts of shit for not being able to distinguish between the leaders of countries ending in -stan that had formerly been part of the Soviet Union. At least the Republican party is consistent (and the party of willful attempts at gutting public education) on not understanding basic geography.

They really need to get better people writing 10th grade history books.

What Reagan was referring to was the individual character of each country, and how that diversity struck him on his first visit there. Though his comment was perhaps inartfully phrased, it’s clear what he’s talking about in context. Even his liberal biographers like Brands dismiss the notion that he thought South America was one country.

I’ve heard people make similar comments on visiting the US for the first time (ie how different the states are).
