I'm also curious if they were even aware of the rumors about him. This whole mess is the first I'm ever hearing of Weinstein, after all. Granted, I'm not part of any powerful political or Hollywood circles, obviously, and from what I'm hearing, it sounds like this was kind of open knowledge in Hollywood circles for some time. But my point is that even in that world, or in the political arena, there may well have still been some who didn't know or hear about the accusations, either. Especially when you consider how quick Weinstein was to squash many stories people tried to share about his behavior.

Having said that, though, if they did indeed know him well, to the point where they were having him over for parties and accepting donations and whatnot, and if they were aware of the rumors, then yeah, I'm all for them commenting on the situation and condemning him. We can use as many voices as possible speaking out against Weinstein's horrid behavior, and people on the left shouldn't look the other way simply because he was a friend to them or supported them financially.

On a similar note, Colbert talked about the Weinstein story on his show last night, and in the process, he showed a clip of Trump being interviewed about the situation. In said clip, Trump acknowledged having known Weinstein for a long time, too, but when the reporter asked him his thoughts on Weinstein's crimes, Trump didn't exactly outright condemn them. He basically referred to Weinstein's apology and admission of his crimes, and compared his "locker room talk" pussy video to the situation, and that was about it.

Well, you can't have it both ways, NFL owners. If they hand Trump a victory by requiring players to stand for the anthem, I am done. I will not watch another game this season, and certainly won't buy any NFL merchandise.

According to two sources familiar with the conversation, Trump vented to his longtime security chief, Keith Schiller, “I hate everyone in the White House! There are a few exceptions, but I hate them!” (A White House official denies this.) Two senior Republican officials said Chief of Staff John Kelly is miserable in his job and is remaining out of a sense of duty to keep Trump from making some sort of disastrous decision. Today, speculation about Kelly’s future increased after Politico reported that Kelly’s deputy Kirstjen Nielsen is likely to be named Homeland Security Secretary—the theory among some Republicans is that Kelly wanted to give her a soft landing before his departure.

One former official even speculated that Kelly and Secretary of Defense James Mattis have discussed what they would do in the event Trump ordered a nuclear first strike. “Would they tackle him?” the person said. Even Trump’s most loyal backers are sowing public doubts. This morning, The Washington Post quoted longtime Trump friend Tom Barrack saying he has been “shocked” and “stunned” by Trump’s behavior.

While Kelly can’t control Trump’s tweets, he is doing his best to physically sequester the president—much to Trump’s frustration. One major G.O.P. donor told me access to Trump has been cut off, and his outside calls to the White House switchboard aren’t put through to the Oval Office. Earlier this week, I reported on Kelly’s plans to prevent Trump from mingling with guests at Mar-a-Lago later this month. And, according to two sources, Keith Schiller quit last month after Kelly told Schiller he needed permission to speak to the president and wanted written reports of their conversations.

The White House denies these accounts. “The President’s mood is good and his outlook on the agenda is very positive,” an official said.

West Wing aides have also worried about Trump’s public appearances, one Trump adviser told me. The adviser said aides were relieved when Trump canceled his appearance on the season premiere of 60 Minutes last month. “He’s lost a step. They don’t want him doing adversarial TV interviews,” the adviser explained. Instead, Trump has sat down for friendly conversations with Sean Hannity and Mike Huckabee, whose daughter is Trump’s press secretary. (The White House official says the 60 Minutes interview is being rescheduled.)

Even before Corker’s remarks, some West Wing advisers were worried that Trump’s behavior could cause the Cabinet to take extraordinary Constitutional measures to remove him from office. Several months ago, according to two sources with knowledge of the conversation, former chief strategist Steve Bannon told Trump that the risk to his presidency wasn’t impeachment, but the 25th Amendment—the provision by which a majority of the Cabinet can vote to remove the president. When Bannon mentioned the 25th Amendment, Trump said, “What’s that?” According to a source, Bannon has told people he thinks Trump has only a 30 percent chance of making it the full term.

For the first and only time, I sincerely hope he's right.

I really do not understand what the hell these people are waiting for at this point. Trump's ratings are in the toilet, the people around him are clearly miserable and frustrated by him and his antics, so why don't they just kick him out by whatever means they're able to and be done with it already?

If that news is true about Deputy Nielsen, boy, do I feel for her already.

I think this might be the beginning of the end, although I've said that probably about a dozen times now since the election, and about 30 times before the election.

If the members of his cabinet do enact the 25th, they should be considered hero's. That's still not easy to even say as I don't like a lot of them. Compared to what their boss is like though....

Congress on the other hand, should be removed from their jobs immediately.

We really do need to go all out in encouraging people to vote en masse in the midterms next year. Send as big a message as possible to these guys and get as much of the rot out of here as we can.

So the very fine people who organized the Unite the Right weekend in Charlottesville, is now planning a white lives matter march on the 28th.

Nothing to see here. The non-hyperbolic racists have been emboldened. No big deal.

I'm sure destroying our country was fun, as long as you got your f.u. to those elites.

The big orange motorcade drove by about 20 minutes ago... hopefully on his way home to resign. Ahh, a boy can dream.
