I'd like to watch the entire debate, but I'll be coming from a work function and am getting a ride from someone else, so we'll see how much I'll miss. Heck, they'll probably re-air it anyway, since it's only on at 6 PST.

But this is the Internet. Remember that photo from Fox News that had a headline on the bottom ticker that read: "Osama Bin Laden—Obama/Biden: Coincidence?"

That turned out to be a forgery and others here thought it was real.

1. anyone could create a fake web page, such as the one you listed.

or

2. why is it unreasonable that the McCain people would prepare this ad in advance? the question is why would some person at the wall street journal or who ever is responsible for placing web ads release it early?

unless someone can show where McCain bought and released this ad early it really is not a story.

why commit that much time

just watch the edited youtube clips that will be played on Olbermann and John Stewart.

Because I would like to watch the whole thing.

I know, it's difficult to believe, since I think you'd just like to lump us all into a group of libruls who want nothing more than to watch Olbermann rant and rave about heavily-edited sound bites as we drool in glorious rapture at how much we agree with him.

;)

you were and are plenty nice enough

after reading pages and pages and several youtube postings

I do plead guilty to lumping

to be honest, I would put you very low on the rant scale

I will TIVO the debate, I am burned out on this whole election process
I may watch, some of it

( I am in couples counseling with this election to see if we can keep it together until November )

^ see? it starts.

in the midst of McCain's running around like a chicken with his head cut off, Obama's cool and calm demeanor, and the subsequent polling in Obama's favor,

diamond is here to remind us that Obama is black.

because blacks can dance.

and i'm betting so can diamond. :sexywink:

Best of luck to you, my friend. My own therapist has recommended self-medicating with vodka come election day.

It's good to get another point of view.

Yes, it is good to get another point of view. But Rush Limbaugh as a good source for another point of view? Shudder. You can do better than that.

What? No, another conservative or right-wing option other than the loathsome Rush Limbaugh. Anything must be better than that guy.

Rush has a bias, and so do most of the mainstream media. There is not "impartial" point of view. Rush limbaugh is the reason there is a conservative media. It's there to compete against the leftwing monopoly that went on for most of the 20th century.

For Christ sakes, the democrats openly tried to pass the Fairness Doctrine to stop him from speaking. The more democrats try to stop conservatives and their freedom of speech the more conservatives get martyred and popular.

There are other sources that agree with Rush. National Review. Rush Limbaugh is bad on certain areas with micro economics and often has to rely on them. Limbaugh is good at following the political machinations of the left. He's a media guy. At least he puts his sources at the bottom of his transcripts.

People like Al Franken have tried to compete with him and lost. Rush Limbaugh is very convincing and does more research than mainstream media by far. He shows the left's attacks and then rebuts them. He shows the left wing gaffes that the mainstream media ignore.

Why don't the left convince people? Because they can't. Socialists are horrible on economics and military. Even blaming Bush for socialist policies of giving debt to poor people is not going to convince people that putting people in power (democrats) who devised the ideas in the first place. You can blame some Republicans for overspending but electing Democrats who do the same thing isn't the answer. What have the democrats the past 2 year done? Spend, spend, and more spending. The answer is the real conservatives in the Republican party. They have a better idea of what to do. Cut spending. Keep taxes low so people want to invest in the U.S. I wish the conservatives here in Canada would cut their corporate taxes but they are in a minority government, but at least taxes are going down with a balanced budget.

Democrats run both houses of Congress. If the deal is so important why complain about Republicans? Just pass the thing and be done with it. Of course if it is another pork barrel plan they don't want to be blamed for it. By making it bipartisan the Republicans would be blamed as well. That's why Republicans washed their hands of it. If it's so important then why not just pass it Democrats? Who's stopping you? Rush asks some good questions.

I find this a curious statement. Socialists are rather good on military. China invests heavily in their military, as did the USSR. North Korea invests in its military while its people starve.

True conservatives realise that an excessive big government milit-ind complex is yet another threat to freedom.

Strongbow, a socialist contributor to FYM, is obsessed with having a huge military.

Even more curious is, again there comes this BS that left/liberal equals socialist.

financeguy, I keep meaning to ask you (and sorry to interrupt the thread to do it) - who is that in your avatar?

Why House Republicans Balked - Capitol Briefing
Here's a good breakdown of what conservatives are doing now. They are trying to realign themselves more to the right because they have been caught with their pants down by being to "moderate" on issues.

Dr. Frankenstein’s Wall Street by Victor Davis Hanson on National Review Online

Here's a good article talking about things that politicians can't talk about. The investors themselves are part of the problem, and not just Washington and Wall Street.

An Old Story by Michelle Malkin on National Review Online
Another microeconomics lesson for us. It's fun to blame politicians and sometimes they should be blamed but we need to look at ourselves and lives we live.

Huh. Oh well.

It always makes me think of Bill Nye the Science Guy (albeit with glasses):

Back to politics. That's fun.

That's quite a leap from not knowing what the Bush Doctrine is. I'm not saying that it wasn't an idiotic statement, but I'm willing to guess that he just got his facts and figures wrong, and perhaps he needs a refresher course in early 20th century history.

Early 21st century history needs no refresher course. Specifically when you are in the running for the #2 spot, and your interviewer is asking you a question about the policy of the head of your country (and party) currently in office.

Hardly anyone knows what the fuckin "Bush Doctrine" is - it's actually many things rolled into one. I would completely give up on that one. Nobody cares, specifically the average voter. Stick with the Katie interview - now THAT was something else!!!

So the average American is supposed to see a politician saying they aren't aware about a lot of politics, and the average American is supposed to nod and say, "I like that she doesn't know - I can relate to that!"
