Whoever posted saying McCain supported DeVos is correct. I stand corrected. Not to mention disillusioned, disgusted, and disappointed.

Bernie Sanders vs Ted Cruz Debate Healthcare on CNN at 9 PM est. (5 minutes from now)

Its like the Packers playing the Steelers in the end of March

This is painful to watch. Sanders makes Cruz look intelligent. Sanders, I agree with most of your moral compass, I love your passion, and you have some very charismatic moments, but for fuck sake learn some basic economic theories and practices. This is why you are where you are.

What're you even talking about? This has been a very fair back and forth. The both of them have had solid points, and the both of them have sounded dumb at some points.

He's "where he is" for very different reasons.

Oh man, Archer! Can we just talk about that instead of Trump for a while?

"He's not coming back. That chick was like, the Pelé of anal!" is the funniest line I've heard in a long time

This almost qualifies as elder abuse

He basically just told a woman, I don't know how you compete in the market but I believe you need to provide health insurance. He said, 'I believe' 5 times in his response without one single fact or figure to discuss how. Feelings, are how we got Trump, we need more.

Every question that has required economic backing he has failed.

And then he just failed another softball question as to why we can't buy packages over state lines because he hasn't done his homework.

Basically Cruz just had to be Cruz and tout the same rhetoric of the last ten years, any well informed candidate would have wiped the floor with him.

Agreed, it's a good exchange. Sanders, Cruz, and CNN should be commended. Even if it doesn't matter much outside of election season.

Feelings are how we got Trump, yes. So why is Sanders not listing facts? Facts are quite useless to voters, as we've seen.

Your bias from your side (the side I share) is what's making you come down critically and more harshly on Sanders. Why?

They're quite literally both doing this.

I think it's fantastic to have the two of them in the same room. If only because they're likely to talk behind the scenes, even in passing. They're the two unlikeliest of collaborators. I get the impression that that one on one conversation frequently doesn't happen, because bipartisanship is dead. Congress could get a lot more done if compromise was made in some areas, instead of the nonsensical partisan crap we see every day for the last 16 years.

Simply because I don't want another party to fall into the Idiocracy that is the Republican party. Plain and simple. I do not want another propped up puppet.

They're quite literally both doing this.

But Cruz, and believe me I hate saying this, actually made his side seem reasonable. Sanders failed us. Bigly.

In a little-noticed 6-3 vote today, the House Administration Committee voted along party lines to eliminate the Election Assistance Commission, which helps states run elections and is the only federal agency charged with making sure voting machines can’t be hacked. The EAC was created after the disastrous 2000 election in Florida as part of the Help America Vote Act to rectify problems like butterfly ballots and hanging chads. (Republicans have tried to kill the agency for years.) The Committee also voted to eliminate the public-financing system for presidential elections dating back to the 1970s.

´The Daily Mail destroyed this once-in-a-lifetime opportunity for Melania Trump.

In a lawsuit filed today, First Lady Melania Trump revealed her intention to leverage the presidency to ink new “licensing, branding, and endorsement” deals worth many millions of dollars. In the filing, Melania Trump’s lawyer described the position of First Lady as a “once-in-a-lifetime” money making opportunity. She told the court she intended to pursue deals in “apparel, accessories, shoes, jewelry, cosmetics, hair care, skin care, and fragrance.”

These kind of endorsement deals would be especially lucrative while Melania Trump is First Lady and thus “one of the most photographed women in the world.”

The First Lady’s lawsuit is against the Daily Mail, which published a story repeating allegations in a Slovenian magazine that Melania Trump once worked as an escort. The allegations were unsupported and the Daily Mail has since issued a retraction.

Also interesting:
Donald Trump maintains full ownership over his businesses and recently doubled the initiation fee for his private club in Florida, Mar-a-lago, from $100,000 to $200,000. He then spent last weekend at Mar-a-lago attending events with members. Trump is effectively using his position as president to make membership at Mar-a-lago more attractive and then monetizing the increased demand.

I believe you are right that there are but it seems like at least to a lot of the West that there are not nearly enough of them speaking out. Unfortunately religion has been a tool of both great good and great evil.

The thing that bothers me at least in some cases is it feels like the Muslim faith is like the Elephant in the room no one wants to talk about because of the possible reaction. The Christian religion gets debated all the time but the Muslim faith is a touchy subject.

But should they speak out? Not that they haven't, plenty of Muslims have come out and condemned every single attack, en masse. But to expect them to speak out each time, seems as though you think they're all responsible in some way and have to dissociate themselves from the idiots in their religion. But to expect 'more' to speak out, even then - will that help? Will it solve the problem? And how many 'more' will be enough?

As for the discussions - yes, of course that would be awesome if they worked. But if some people are convinced of their views on it, no amount of discussion would help. But we can at least try.

Actually, I tend to leave the left view on this subject.

And I'll probably be attacked for my opinion but

There are plenty of passages that call for violence in both the Koran and Hadith. These are what the extremist site for their actions. Of course one could say they are misinterpreting their holy book, but so is the case with every religion. You'd think the word of God would be pretty clear cut and absolute.....

I think looking at statistics/polls of the Muslim world shows it has a long way to go for human rights. And that's what concerns me most. I do not believe every Muslim is a terrorist or wants to spread Islam throughout the world. I think majority would prefer to be left alone.

But the numbers show a larger number than just a small minority who would prefer the death penalty for apostates, for drawing their prophet, banning or killing homosexuals. These aren't fringe numbers, in same cases they are the majority. Normal people like you and me who happen to hold pretty extreme view/beliefs.

I heard a decent analogy. That if Mormons went and killed the creators of South Park for the Book of Mormon, none of us would have excused that religion. If scientologists went around blowing themselves up in other countries, we would hold them accountable.

Extremism in Islam is a threat, and there has to be a better conversation about it. Maybe the media doesn't cover the reformers, or the Muslim population who speaks out against it, but it seems like they cannot out of fear of being a target.

The conversation has to happen within the Muslim community, the West can empower those moderate to liberal voices, but we've done enough damage by intervening.

I don't think we need to fight extremism with more extremism (Muslim ban) but we can't have every conversation end up the same way. Even if we eliminated terrorism, there's still plenty of human right issues carried out by the name of religion that needs reforming.

I don't know. It's early. I'm rambling

Which Quranic passages and Hadiths are you referring to, exactly? There are plenty in the Bible too, if one were to make that argument.

The main problem in the predominantly Muslim world is a lack of secular education (which flows from horrible autocratic and theocratic regimes).

This is agreeable.
