I'm curious -- once Sessions is confirmed, does that mean his senate seat becomes available in an emergency election?

Maybe Trump is systematically removing the scum and then he'll fire them all!

A guy can dream :(

Not to pick on you, but this is quite patronizing. We are not amateur political scientists (at least I'm not, quite literally). The problem is not that we "are not in tune with" the topic, but that, from my perspective (I don't want to speak for others), DaveC is simply wrong on political theory.

It wasn't meant to be patronizing, sorry. I don't recall the exact degree Dave said he completed, but this is what he said was his field of knowledge/expertise.

It wasn't meant to be a shot at everyone else. Just an acknowledgement that it's near-and-dear to him, so it's probably frustrating.

No worries, I appreciate the good intentions. And it's an important issue. I just think many of us disagree with Dave, but he continuously tries to imply that we are not listening to him.

Bill Ford went to Trump while on the campaign begging him to stop slamming the company. He knows he'd be on the hot seat if he were to make any moves knowing his company is in the public eye. Trump took the assurance from Ford about the Kentucky plant staying put and played it to his advantage making Ford look good in the process. The Art of the Deal.

CEOs should take a lesson from Grubhub.

i mean, ive only said every goddam time this has come up that i was using fascist Italy as a reference point and not nazi germany, so when something like this gets posted:

You seem to overlook a number of things:
- Nobody is saying that the current situation is the same as Nazi Germany;
- Nobody is saying that we are now all of a sudden living under fascism, but rather that a significant portion of Trump's rhetoric evokes fascism, and that there are signs (I would say strong signs) that he may turn into an authoritarian leader, and possibly a fascist one at that;
- Fascim doesn't equal Nazism. Think of Mussolini's Italy or Salazar's Portugal and the similarities get closer.

yea, it's pretty friggin obvious that i'm not being listened to at all.

Your insistence on being exactly correct about all of this is about as grating to me, right now, as when Vlad rolls his eyes at all of us for using the phrase "far left".

Let me get this straight; you mock someone for believing snopes even though they said nothing of snopes and posted a link with sources, but you just take Trump at his word even though he's a habitual liar?

Do you still believe Belichick wrote him an endorsement letter too?

I'm not even sure YOU know what you're trying to say.

So, I went back to take the time to read your posts on fascism. And this is what you actually said:

i don't mean to vlad this thread up too much, but nazis weren't technically fascists. only italy ever had an actual fascist government.

I don't know how else to put it, but unless you are stubbornly fixated to semantics and just saying this because of the actual Italian word Fasci, this view is essentially incorrect, and contrary to, really, just about any serious academic literature.

Let's just drop it, no point in discussing it any further.

A conservative is going to replace Sessions anyway.
He's hardline on immigration and sanctuary cities -- good pick on that front. Not a fan of his crackdown on marijuana. Why are we still fighting the pointless war on drugs? All it's done is destroy minority communities. Hope Trump admin doesn't go that stupid route.
Not a fan of Bannon. Too much big govt.
And I really hope Giuliani isn't SOS. He's too pro-war for my taste.

sounds like socialism, but in a nationalist kind of way.

Bannon: 'I'm not a white nationalist, I'm a nationalist'

Stephen Bannon, who will become President-elect Donald Trump's chief strategist in the new administration, is embracing the "darkness" many see in his promotion and Trump's operation.

“Darkness is good,” he told the Hollywood Reporter. “Dick Cheney. Darth Vader. Satan. That’s power. It only helps us when they get it wrong. When they’re blind to who we are and what we’re doing.”

Many Democrats have been calling for Trump to boot Bannon, pointing to his connection to Breitbart News, which he once called the "platform for the alt-right."

"I’m not a white nationalist, I’m a nationalist," Bannon said. "I’m an economic nationalist."

In the interview, Bannon emphasized that his ideology runs counter to those of both parties, which he believes have sold out the country and effectively "created a middle class in Asia."

“It’s everything related to jobs," he said. "The conservatives are going to go crazy. I’m the guy pushing a trillion-dollar infrastructure plan. With negative interest rates throughout the world, it’s the greatest opportunity to rebuild everything. Ship yards, iron works, get them all jacked up.

"We’re just going to throw it up against the wall and see if it sticks. It will be as exciting as the 1930s, greater than the Reagan revolution — conservatives, plus populists, in an economic nationalist movement.”

Do you guys deal in anything but memes?

Like really?

Give me 1000 words (a basic essay) on this. I will accept references in the word count. Go.

You just showed up after the election. Throughout the summer I have written very lengthy posts on a range of issues.

Many of the stalwart members of the forum can vouch for me on that.

You voted for a pro-war big govt platform this time around, why are you surprised by any of this?

Serious question not yet discussed...

You were the lone consistent Trump supporter who bashed him after the access Hollywood tapes.

What's changed? That doesn't matter now because he won? It only mattered when it looked like he was going to get blown out?

I'm not trying to be a dick... I seriously want to know.

Yeah I did return to actually posting here rather recently.

Doesn't mean I can't check post histories or read old threads. You have an odd relationship with this thing called "the truth", don't you?

I am sorry that facts have a liberal bias.
