if there's one thing rural white americans want, it isn't guns and Jesus but Democratic Socialism -- small town America is crying out to be more like Denmark.

So yes... clearly people just didn't want to vote for her. Should have picked Sanders! People would have come out!
People didn't want to vote for her. Hence the drop in percentage of the vote and the rise of the third party candidacies. She racked up so many votes thanks to killing Trump in the irrelevant blue states where turnout has jumped thanks to easier access (early voting, vote-by-mail, etc.)

I'm not saying Sanders would have won (although he was very, very strong with white voters that don't lean liberal in places such as Michigan), but I'm saying there was absolutely no point in nominating Hillary Clinton just as there will be no point in again relying on what The Nation refers to as the mixture of big money and identity politics. It's time to look forward, not back, win or lose.

Sadly, whether the front-runner for the Progressives is Ellison, Gabbard, Warren, etc. I'm sure we'll see the same condescending behavior in this thread about how their policies can't be implemented, how wealthy Interference users would be harmed by their high tax rates, how someone like Cory Booker is the sensible option and he gives good speeches, etc. It's the same predictable melody that's given us three uninspiring losers this century and will surely bring about a fourth.

And I expect Trump to be an even tougher candidate next time around due to incumbency and a willingness of Republican donors to get him reelected.

This is going to be the big challenge for media and the public alike: To withstand the temptation to highlight and disect his smoke screens and keep focussing on the bigger stories, that simultaneously develop and get swept under the rug. So far, it hasn't worked that well, even though his strategy is pretty blatant and has been discussed by each paper at least once.
A fact that keeps amazing me: A news page brings a story discussing a politician's or company's strategy to deflect, pointing out which trap not to fall into, only for the very same news page to continously fall for it.

Donald is very good at smoke screening and avoiding being accused of so many things in election season (I think Stephen Colbert said that while ago as well, where he said that Donald basically said countless batshit insane things continuously that we basically forgot what he had said before).

This will definitely be a challenge.

Thank you for piggybacking with someone who routinely trolls my posts to share your views of looking down at me.

How about that president-elect Trump?

err dude, i don't routinely troll your posts - i just disagree with some things you say, sometimes take offence at how you say it, and so find it difficult to talk to you as you can get pretty mean fast

i believe we have had quite constructive convos in the past, about your move to the UK, so there's that

re. your comments to Diemen - well i genuinely found it amusing

So with all this recount talk, we're 3 weeks out from election day, and Michigan still can't figure out who won their state?
What the hell is in the water there?

The President-elect of the United States just suggested that anyone who burns a flag, an act protected by the first amendment, should be stripped of their citizenship and/or put in jail for a year.
