The use of the word: NAZI

My fellow
humans
earthlings
citizens of the milkway...

(thats the end of the cute part)

I believe in the past here, I have addressed the use of the word NAZI should not be used liberally.

Let me RE-emphasize this issue...

(end of the pre-warning.. I'm about to kick someones ass.. part)

Calling someone a NAZI is a personal attack if they are not indeed truly a NAZI (and if you are a NAZI - you better get the Fucking hell off of my board), which violates the terms of use of this board if you are calling another member by that name.

The NAZIS destroyed over 12 million innocent PEOPLE.

The NAZIS destroyed some of my family.

I don't care WHO called who a NAZI, BUT whoever uses that word better use it cautiously and correctly, that word carries A LOT of weight.

(end my dislike for the word NAZI, and the NAZIS)

I dont care about liberals,
I dont care about consveratives,
I think they're all a bunch of jackasses just trying to shove their fucking view down other peoples throats.

Ego => Greed => War

Live by example
or
SIT THE FUCK DOWN
I'm sick of hearing people preach.

(end.. Elvis speaks his mind in FREE YOUR MIND)

I really couldn't agree more with you.

Might I also add that I dislike certain members' usage of the word "Communist" in reference to liberals. Stalin alone killed over 20 million of his own people, not to mention a reign of terror that lasted three decades, almost culminating in his own Jewish Holocaust that he would have taken place in 1953, had he not died suddenly just before it was to be carried out. Let us also not forget the 1950s McCarthy-era "Red Scare," whereas many perfectly decent liberals ended up ruined in what was little more than petty ideological vengeance from conservatives to the liberals.

I'm certainly not coming before here totally innocent, for I likely used the word "Nazi" in reference to conservatives after being angered enough at the "Communist" association I'm constantly being hammered with. (And, yes, people...there are major differences between "Communists" and "Socialists.")

All in all, I, for one, think that "freeing your mind" can also involve being respectful, something that I certainly try and be here, for better or for worse; and, really, name calling of any kind really has no place in the arena of professional debate.

My two cents.

And even though most of them had gone under, their ignorance had confused Roy, making him wonder whether the things he had striven to learn, and thought of as 'culture,' were irrelevant. Everything was supposed to be the same: commercials, Beethoven's late quartets, pop records, shopfronts, Freud, multi-coloured hair. Greatness, comparison, value, depth: gone, gone, gone. Anything could give some pleasure; he saw that. But not everything provided the sustenance of a deeper understanding." - Hanif Kureishi, Love in a Blue Time

What about if you are referring to people who have indeed killed or harmed millions, but are actually not Nazis...They just act like them and are every bit as evil as them? We need to find harsh enough words to use for people like that. I mean, calling them "gosh darn crooked and evil humans" just doesnt cut it.
I have rels who were killed in WW2 also...But I'm not offended by Seinfeld . *shrugs*

I work as a computer lab assistant at the college I attend. Due to thefts and such, we have implemented a system that requires all users to check in at the main desk with a photo ID and be signed in. If people sit down without signing in, I always go over and inform them of the policy. If they sit at the wrong station, I move them. Since lots of my other co-workers don't care and just let the policy slide, I've become known as "The Computer Lab Nazi"...I try laugh it off, but I don't like that name.

alright then that's cleared. i understand your sentiments Elvis. i mean no disrespect, just that the comment took me by surprise. that word has been used to the point of desensitization and i do believe that that is wrong. unfortunately this happens with a lot of hurtful things. i think comedy is a way for some people to deal with trauma.

my intentions were not disrespectful.
of course the holocaust was horrifying to find out that humans are capable of such loathsome conduct.

but sometimes i think people are too uptight about life and need levity

I'm female. Does that mean if i am a siamese twin, i have the right to butcher my twin, simply because i have the right to make my own decision? Its the SAME thing. They are connected, but it is NOT your body!!!!!!!
And, btw, i do not actually believe abortion should be made illegal, but only because there are too many people in this world, and due to the stupidity of some women, prolly should be kept legal to control more stupid people from being born. And of course, it must always be legal in certain circumstances.
I just wish people would stop denying that they are, in fact, killing someone.
Oh, and I'm not against the term Feminazi either. There are SOOOOOOOO many "women" (actually male wannabes) who fit that description!

For some reason i found that post exremely offensive.

Does that mean if i am a siamese twin, i have the right to butcher my twin, simply because i have the right to make my own decision? Its the SAME thing. They are connected, but it is NOT your body!!!!!!!

I really cant see how it is the same thing. I am not for or againist abortion but dont you think it is difeent because the twin is alive outside of a womb. That they will fell the pain and that you would die also.

This thread is getting demented.

Back to the Nazi issue. I totally agree with Elvis that this word is one to be used catiuosly. I have seen many teachers be called Nazi's and i even had a Asst Princpal who had Nazi artifacts. He was riducled for it by many people. He had a shaved head to add to the trouble. But when you actually asked him about it he would tell you the story of how his two uncles and aunt and grandparents were killed only his father and another brother survived. He was very knowledgable about the subject. He did not support these people he only had books around and artifacts to remind him of the hate.

Sadly, you're right, in fact he was really the person who made that word widely known. He uses it to describe women who are pro-choice, because he claims their only goal in life is to ensure as many abortions as possible are performed. He completely misses the point that to be pro-choice is not to be pro-abortion, it's not to say you believe abortion is a solution to every unplanned pregnancy, it simply means that you believe women should be trusted to make that decision for themselves.
