I think that's a beautiful idea, Headache. I'd certainly go for that setup.

^Who's on top of that ticket?

As far as the Tea Party go, it would be nice to see Ron Paul take some leadership. I don't agree with him on many things, but he seems mostly reasonable.

Hey, I'd go for that as well, that would be political suicide for the GOP.

Palin has already lost her footing with the majority of the GOP, all they would have to bring up in the campain is that she's a quitter.

Romney has very little footing with the Tea Party crowd, he's pretty much dead in the water since his plan is pretty much what the health care bill has turned out to be.

I just don't think they'd be able to balance each other enough.

Yeah, but I'm sure they hated every efficient, environmentally-friendly, affordable minute of it.

This is correct.

Palin and Romney are both dead issues when it comes to going on a GOP ticket that has any shot at winning.

Palin will remain prominent in the Tea Party and her reality TV show or whatever makes her the most money for the "entertainment" she provides. However, she has lost it as far as legitimate shot at winning a primary goes.

Romney is a phony and a half, a disingenuous loser who has never held an honest position in his life. The conservative base, while it has a few Romney devotees, by in large see right through him and view him as a moderate at best and a liberal at worst. I don't care about straw polls, look how he did in the 2008 Republican Primary where the ultimate winner, McCain, was far from the 1st choice of the base!

So, there is still the Lou Dobbs factor. Does he have any potential in the Tea Party?

Ha, no kidding. But hey, what can you expect from a party that has extremists threatening violence against the government all the while they're stating how "patriotic" they are (swear to God, if I hear one of them talk about how much they "love the Constitution" and want to "take the country back" (FROM WHAT?! Will someone please tell me what the hell they want to take the country back from already?) one more time...)? And I'd still like to know how Sarah can claim to be a patriot and be married to a guy who belongs to a group that wants Alaska to secede from the U.S. I mean, after all, she was harping on like crazy in 2008 about how important connections were when it came to Obama and Bill Ayers or Rev. Wright, so...

Also, I was watching Rachel Maddow's show earlier tonight and they showed a clip of Steve King at one of the rallies today. Since I am originally from Iowa, I would just like to, on behalf of my lovely home state, apologize for this douchebag. Same goes for Chuck Grassley, too. Really. I am so sorry, everyone.

As for the whole Palin/Romney deal...well, I heard that one poll that said Romney came out on top amongst the Republican/Tea Party/whoever groups in regards to favorite presidential nominee, Palin came in third. So apparently Romney has more appeal (but I'm totally with U2387 in regards to him, every time I look at him the words "used car salesman" come to mind...). But honestly, I think I know why the Democrats haven't been more forceful in fighting the Republicans-like stated, they seem to just kinda be imploding in on themselves. They don't need anyone's help in destroying their chances, really.

Unfortunately, not all that good right now-going through some tough family times at the moment-I mentioned them over in the PLEBAns area, if you're curious, or I could PM you and tell you there, too, whatever. But hello! It's nice to see you're still here ! I'm on my sister's computer at the moment, and could use the distraction, so here I am. It's nice to be back, if only for a short time at the moment.

the two of them winning office in 2012 would prove that the Mayans were right.

If this is the GOP ticket - Obama wins by a landslide.

if it were the gop ticket obama would probably still win, but it'd be closer than last time.

and, at least with the popular vote last time, it was quite close.

the GOP will be out at the polls in force in 2012... there will be no landslide.

I noticed you avatar...

I met Keith Hernandez when I was a kid in St. Louis (he was a Cardinal then). He had some great season there.

In my opinion, the best hope for the GOP is a strong fiscal conservative that isn't too loud about social issues, global warming conspiracies, or international intervention (perhaps in the Goldwater mold).

Anyone running on a "smaller government" platform should do well.
