Before all you reasonable anti-conspiracy folks jump all over this remember that this article is written by PAUL CRAIG ROBERTS...who is Paul Craig Roberts you may ask??? Well, he served in the REAGAN ADMINISTRATION as Assistant Secretary Of The Treasury. He was also Associate Editor Of THE WALL STREET JOURNAL editorial page and contributing editor of the NATIONAL REVIEW. You can't really get more "mainstream" than that...

Ahem. Actually, Paul Craig Roberts has a reputation as a bit of a maverick, these days.

I have nothing against the man and indeed have posted an article by him before on here (an article which, if I remember correctly, was described by one liberal-leaning poster as 'anti-American') but he must be regarded as someone well outside the mainstream, based on his recent writings.
