I think they should be released. I for one would be interested to see the evidence that was supposedly provided to my government (Britain) which ended in our complete idiot of a Prime minister handing over a blank cheque to the US.

Ant.

Release it..As long as it's NOT Bin Laden's personal porno tape ( throws up at the thought), I want to see it.

There is an excerpt of it online here:
http://europe.cnn.com/video/us/2001/...d.exclude.html

It doesn't play well though.

Is there only one official translation so far, or have independent media had the opportunity to listen to the original sound? Also, I heard some speculation that the sound was so bad that it was hard to tell what was being said at all.

Not to be annoying or anything, just looking for the truth.

Just think how flimsy the other evidence is, if this is causing such a stir.

And on a personal level, can someone tell me what I can do, to stop myself shouting at the TV and radio at inept journalism and reporting 'cos it's upsetting the wife (this isn't just about the 'war' either, it's everything. And don't get me started on the newspapers)

The sound on the copies of the tape released to the media outlets is terrible, no doubt. But those were probably lower-fidelity copies of the original. I'm not sure what conclusions you could draw from this though.

No one who has heard the original has complained about its quality--the only instance I can think of where this would happen would be if the US hired some other translator who quit the project because he didn't want to issue a dubious translation.
