Kimby, thanks for the reply.

My parents always told me that the school of life never ends.

Now, about getting out of that glass of buttermilk...:)

I view real buttermilk, not that "cultured stuff" most markets offer,
but real buttermilk from the process of making real butter as the champagne of the dairy world.

*also very good for you*

I will start a thread soon on why perople should support local dairy farmers and buy real milk products (like whole milk and buttermilk)

and some info on why we should try to buy more brown eggs.

I know I have done threads in the past on these subjects

but I usually start a new one every year or two.

Did you know that you can tell the exact colour of eggshells by peering into the ear of a chicken. Whatever colour the inside of the ear is will be the same colour of the eggshell

My mother has backyard chooks. I can confirm that the colour of the shell is because of the colour of the hen, and nothing more.

However, I am NOT going to stand in the chookshed tonight and look into their ear!

My inner racist keeps me away from brown chooks. I dont trust what they lay for a minute.

It's the big MOFOs Chickens that worry me.

The ones that look you in the eye before giving you a peck :|

There is no difference, nutrionally, between a white or brown egg.

I dont care what your textbooks say, Tania. Those brown eggs are bad news. Keep them away from your children. They'll poison their minds!
