As I said, we don't know of all her plans yet. But what she is doing is campaigning to get conservatives elected in 2010.

She JUST resigned. I don't understand why we need to be on the edge of our seats just yet.

The point is that she is weighing in on the doors that have opened for her.

Oy vey.

I don't think she's defended herself and her family when it wasn't the least bit necessary.

She may be a mere "personality" to you.

To many others, she offers both personality and substance.

Did you see the bumper stickers that say "Sarah Palin for President: 2012 - 2014 and 1/2"

She is a quitter, plain and simple.

This bullshit about being a lame duck would make sense if she were a term-limited governor. But she is not. So she clearly didn't feel like running again (maybe she has presidential aspirations, maybe she wants to cash in), and got the hell outta there. This is motivated by her self-interest and little else.

She kept Alaska out of a deficit. That doesn't just happen out of thin air.

I don't see the point.

Do you know anything about Alaska economics? This isn't difficult to do...

Yeah, actually it does when you're sitting on boatloads of oil reserves at a time in history when oil prices are at their highest.

Much like the province of Alberta that's sitting on huge profits, but if you take away the oil, they'd suffer total economic collapse.

He made a significant comeback after that.

Maybe, maybe, maybe...

The "plain and simple" is all based on speculation.

She did what was best for her - protecting her reputation from unfounded accusations.

And she did what was best for Alaska - not allowing the accusations to become a major distraction.

He was Vice President prior to his run in 1960.

A rather dominant face in the GOP at the time, don't you think?

Sure, let's reduce the issue to McCain's sloganeering.

But he finished term. I'm still not following your comparison here...

At least I hear your reasoning - focused on not completing a term.

Other than that aspect, I think it's a pretty fair comparison.

The drilling position is somewhat specific, but tell me her specific plans for the other two.

I was referring to having been a candidate for major, national office, and yet very slim on real goals and plans.

Bingo. And her supporters somehow feel that that makes her a reasonable candidate for President.

Which is why I'll refer back to my original comment: They're as muddled as she is.

Wow, I really shouldn't have to. Her plan for 2012, if that's what you're looking for, has yet to exist.

If you read the thread enough, you would know that I have not committed to her.

It's the same person.

Let's beat the dead horse again: we don't know her plans, nor is that really all that important for now.

In a way, I agree.

Which is why, again, I haven't committed to Heath 2.5.

I have to wonder who out of the GOP you would think makes a reasonable candidate for president, though...

Jindal?
Perry?
Thune?

I wonder the same about Noonan and Parker.

As far as I can see, there has been change since he took office. Perhaps you don't like the change, but it's there.
