I really hope he's able to find a new team. Not sure how much of a distraction it is going to cause, as right now it'll seem more like a side show with the media attention.

Maybe with him coming out, it can give other athletes that are gay the courage to do so, and make this a non event (as some were calling it).

If we had someone on here with some backward beliefs that black people shouldn't be allowed to marry white people, that person would be strongly called out on it. Of course it's personal. You're talking about people's lives. And INDY in particular constantly comes in and passes judgment on other people's lives and how close to the his version of the "ideal" they are. Yet he expects everyone else to discuss it at a theoretical level. Very disingenuous.

He is an inefficient offensive player but still brings something on the defensive end for an end of the bench guy.

i hesitate to put a SS adoption story here, because SSM and SSA are two different things -- yet, the last tumbleweeds of anti-SSM "arguments" have something to do with the "good" of the children and the implication that children would be better off in the foster care system than with two same-sex parents who love her.

WISCONSIN — Former GOP vice presidential candidate Paul Ryan told a Wisconsin town hall audience on Monday that he now supports the right of same-sex couples to adopt children, even though he still opposes marriage equality.

Confronted by an audience member about his anti-LGBT voting record — Ryan earned a “zero percent” score on gay rights from the Human Rights Campaign — the House Budget Committee chairman admitted that gays and lesbians could provide a loving home to “orphans.” In 1999, Ryan voted against adoption for same-sex couples in the District of Columbia, but said he would vote differently today:

Ryan’s opposition to marriage equality actually makes less sense given his support for same-sex adoption. One of the primary arguments against same-sex marriage is the false claim that children are better off with opposite-sex parents. Now it seems he supports allowing same-sex families to raise children, but he still opposes providing those families with the same legal protections afforded to opposite-sex parents.

During the town hall, Ryan also highlighted his support for the Employment Non-Discrimination Act (ENDA), a bill that would prohibit employers from discriminating against workers based on their sexual orientation or gender identity. The measure has been introduced in Congress almost every session since 1994, through Ryan initially lobbied to weaken ENDA so it did not include gender identity, and ultimately voted for the weakened version in 2007. Ryan did not say if he would support the more inclusive bill in this Congress.

Throughout the presidential campaign, Mitt Romney argued that adoption “should be assessed on a state-by-state basis.”

Thierry Speitel, mayor of the town of Sigolsheim in the Haut-Rhin area of eastern France lodged a complaint with police after he was sent bullets through the post this week.

Speitel, who is gay himself, said he was “shocked” by the incident and described the act as “odious”.

The threat comes after Speitel gave a recent interview to the local newspaper Derniers Nouvelles d’Alsace in which he talked about the probability he would marry his partner and the prospect of them adopting children.

He also slammed the homophobic incidents that have taken place in France over recent months, that have been blamed on the poisonous atmosphere created by some of the more extreme opponents of gay marriage.

Along with the bullets, Speitel, a practicing Catholic, was sent a copy of his newspaper interview, which contained scrawled handwritten homophobic insults.

He is not the only elected official to have received threats in recent month.

On April 22nd, on the eve of the decisive vote on the gay marriage bill in the National Assembly, Claude Bartolone, the Socialist president of France’s lower house received a threatening letter containing gunpowder.

It came after Socialist deputies Sylviane Bulteau and Hugues Fourage were sent letters from anti-gay marriage extremists, threatening to kidnap and kill them or their loved ones, if the gay marriage bill is not withdrawn.

The divisive gay marriage debate has dominated the headlines in France over recent months, as the anti "Manif Pour Tous" movement, along with the Catholic Church and France’s opposition UMP party have mobilized hundreds of thousands to rally against the law.

But an opinion poll published on Friday suggests the French public are finally ready to move on.

The survey, carried out by polling agency IFOP, revealed 67 percent of French people believe the anti-gay marriage protests should stop.

However the furore is unlikely to die down just yet with another nationwide protest planned for May 26th.

Goes back to religious people cherry picking the parts of their faith to follow. While for the most part Christians live peacefully side by side in society, why is it they get a pass for making these type of statements and threats against a group of people?

When confronted on this, they fall behind "it's against my faith/religion", but they openly admit they don't follow the other laws of the bible. Jesus said NOTHING against SSM, nor homosexuals. And it's a joke for Christians to deny the OT laws when confronted with rules that they're not comfortable with, but when it's a subject they oppose, it doesn't matter where it comes from.

Also not sure how religious people can claim turning the other cheek and love thy neighbor by threatening and shooting at these people.
