Project Children is an organization dedicated to improving the lives of all children in Northern Ireland ... one child at a time. Through its work with Catholic and Protestant youth, Project Children is helping to bridge the divide between their two communities. Project Children looks to provide mind-opening and life-changing experiences for its participants, through a summer holiday with American host families or professional internships and vocations training programs. Project Children has helped lay the foundation for peace in Northern Ireland ... we must continue to build on the momentum for a true and lasting Peace.

For a limited time (3/7-3/11) New York's One and Only Lite Music Station, 106.7 Lite fm, will be running an online contest to win a copy of the CD. 1067litefm.com.

Just to clarify, who is behind this project and where do the funds go? Perhaps a bit more detail on what projects the charity supports, etc. Thanks.

Hi! Thanks for your inquiry.

Project Children (projectchildren.com) is the organization that the compilation benefits. 100% of the proceeds go to the charity. Everyone involved donated their services, songs, etc. The only people paid were legal (reduced rate) and duplication/distribution services.

Project Children has several programs:

1) Summer holiday in the U.S. with an American host family for children from Northern Ireland. This is the program most people are familiar with. My family participated in the program for many years as a "host family". That's how I became involved with this project. It is an incredible experience for everyone involved. The organization pays for the child's airfare and insurance. The host family takes care of anything else.

Basically, you welcome the child into your family for 6 weeks. It is an exciting experience for the children coming from Northern Ireland and scary ... big trip for young children (generally 10 -14). They are generally amazed by life in the U.S. It is quite a rewarding experience for the host family. Besides helping someone else and doing good, your children become aware of how life is for other children. The children can also become very close -- we had one little girl back 3 times.

2) Habitat for Humanity is for older kids. Catholic and Protestant Irish kids come to the U.S. and stay with American kids. They all work and live together while they help a needy family in the U.S. with their home.

3) There are soccer camps in Ireland for teens also bringing kids from the U.S. and Northern Ireland together for camp.

4) There are internship programs helping Irish kids with work experience in the U.S. Many host families will invite their kids to live with them and attend college in the U.S.

There is more detail about everything at the website. I've only participated in the summer holiday.

Also, this is a wonderful CD!!! We're getting tremendous feedback on it. Besides raising money for a very worth cause, it also gives exposure to some great talent that you haven't heard about. Trust me, you won't be disappointed if you buy it.

Best,

MB
