Pretty sure U2 knows what "born in the USA" is actually about.

Reagan and conservatives are guilty as charged; eternally optimistic and eager to celebrate living in America by singing the choruses of "Born in the U.S.A," "This Land is Your Land" or "Keep On Rockin' in the Free World," blissfully deaf to the dark undertones of contempt buried in the verses.

You know, kinda like Chick-fil-A-eating homophobes dancing and doing the hand signs to Y.M.C.A between innings at the ballgame.

Given some of those people's attitudes about women in general (the birth control thing and all that), this doesn't seem too surprising to me, unfortunately.

For a while now, pictures purporting to show Obama’s mother, Stanley Ann Dunham, modeling in 1950s bondage and fetish porn have been floating around the darker corners of the Internet. Now, though, they’ve made their way into a pseudo-documentary, Joel Gilbert’s Dreams From My Real Father, which is being mailed to voters in swing states, promoted by several Tea Party groups and by at least one high-level Republican. At the same time, Dinesh D’Souza’s latest book, Obama’s America—the first of all his works to hit the top spot on The New York Times bestseller list—has a chapter essentially calling Dunham a fat slut.

Keep it classy, as always, GOP & its supporters .

“My election was not a sudden political phenomenon,” says the narrator, speaking as if he were Obama reading his autobiography. “It was the culmination of an American socialist movement that my real father, Frank Marshall Davis, nurtured in Chicago and Hawaii, and has been quietly infiltrating the U.S. economy, universities, and media for decades.”

Yeah. Sure. Whatever you say .

Seriously, STFU already with this crap, people, for the love of God.

What's sad is that there will be plenty who will believe all this crap.

Listening to te lyrics would likely help.

But then, that involves listening, and you folks are an angry, shouty lot.

You're right, Bruce Springsteen secretly dislikes America and everything its about. Fuck his contempt, USA! USA!

As for Obama, meant to say earlier, by the way, that I agree with Pearl on the whole "The View" thing. First and foremost because, you know, world leaders and all, kinda important.

And second, just 'cause, for cripes' sake, it's "The View" :p.

The View was the right way to go.

None of these world leaders can vote for him, especially with these new voter ID laws.

just in case anyone does not understand why going on the view is much better than meeting with foreign leaders

Romney Faces a Formidable Gender Gap - NationalJournal.com

Well, I'm a woman and I couldn't care less about "The View", so if he, or Romney, for that matter, wanted to use that show to appeal further to women voters, it may work on some, but not everyone. And if a woman is using a politician's appearance on that show as her main reason to vote for them, that's pretty dumb reasoning, I think.

As the article notes, most women are voting for Obama in large part because the GOP's general attitude on women's health issues is absolutely batshit crazy.

WASHINGTON — The Commerce Department said Thursday that the United States economy grew at an annual pace of just 1.3 percent in the second quarter of the year, showing that the recovery came close to stalling in the spring.

The revision was down from the 1.7 percent rate the government reported in August. The economy grew at a 2 percent pace in the first quarter of the year and 3 percent at the end of 2011.

A separate report Thursday showed the manufacturing sector, one of the brightest spots in the recovery, contracting as well. The Commerce Department said that durable goods orders, a key measure of manufacturing strength, plunged 13.2 percent in August, far more than economists had anticipated and the steepest drop since the worst of the recession in the winter of 2009.

New Data Show Net Job Growth Under Barack Obama
The Huffington Post | By Mark Gongloff

A tiny, routine revision in some jobs data could have a big political payoff for President Obama.

The Labor Department on Thursday morning quietly released a new benchmark for payroll employment in the U.S. It turns out that with the revision, there has been net job growth -- not much, but more than nothing -- during Obama's first term.

According to the revision, total non-farm payrolls stood at 133.686 million jobs in August, up from 133.561 million in January 2009, when Obama's first term began. Before the revision, payrolls were at 133.300 million in August.

In other words, 125,000 jobs have been created, in total, during Obama's first term, compared with a prior estimate of a loss of 261,000.

This is obviously a very small difference, but it takes away a weapon that former Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney, the Republican nominee for president, has used repeatedly to hit Obama: the claim that there has been a net job loss since he took office.

That claim was arguably unfair in any event, given the state of the economy when Obama took on the worst job in America: The economy was shedding about 750,000 jobs per month just before and after his inauguration. With the new benchmark revisions, it added about 194,000 jobs per month in the year up to March 2012, according to Wharton economics professor Justin Wolfers.

The BLS regularly adjusts its payroll data to account for hard unemployment insurance data from the states. The next revision is scheduled for February 2013. In the latest revision, as of March 2012, U.S. non-farm payrolls were 386,000 jobs higher than first estimated. The BLS noted that these revisions are so tiny that they are not considered statistically significant -- representing just 0.3 percent of total non-farm payrolls.

If not for deep cuts in government jobs, net job growth in Obama's first term probably would have turned positive long ago. The BLS revision raised private payrolls by 453,000 jobs, but lowered government payrolls by 67,000. That means, in total, federal, state and local government payrolls are 743,000 jobs lower than they were when Obama took office. Private payrolls, in contrast, are 868,000 jobs higher than when Obama took office, including the benchmark revision.

New Data Show Net Job Growth Under Barack Obama

this is why Obama is winning, even more so than Romney's shocking terribleness as a candidate and as the face of a party that's utterly, totally out of ideas.

he's actually done a good job, given what we were handed and in the face of an opposition that would rather sacrifice the recovery and cause the american people to suffer rather than have him reelected.

but then, Mitch McConnell has told us this from the beginning.

He thinks the debate is tonight. I guess his greasy hair is shielding his eyes from the program guide.

I guess Fox was just looking for an disenchanted famous (or semi famous, used to be famous) Obama supporter. Matt Damon must have turned them down. He's definitely disenchanted, but he still won't go on Fox and Friends. He knows his stuff, I could listen to him for hours. Stapp, not so much.

Yes, because what's offensive to women is President Obama's tumblr.

And not the hordes of Republicans and their comments about forcible rape, sluts, pregnancy from rape, behaving in a ladylike manner, feminazis and heaven knows what else.

If you are surprised by the gender gap, you're plugging your ears and singing la-la-la.

If you are surprised by the gender gap, you're plugging your ears and singing la-la-la.

But the gender gap only exists among East Coast elitist feminazis. And I'm sure Obama's tumblr is monitored by him 24/7 and he makes all the posts-not some low level campaign staffer who saw that on Pinterest and reposted it.

The Romney campaign should have a tumblr graphic that says vote like your penis depends on it. Cause those pesky feminazis shrink your penis (scientifically proven by Rush, he did exhaustive research), and Obama's just in lockstep with them. Those "sharp tongued" harpies like the women on The View, well you'll never see your penis again. That must be why Mitt's ascared to go on there.

How about vote as if fair pay depends on it?

my signal blinked out several times over past 2 days...finally caan post this

:| That's great, more "change we can believe in" from our healer-in-chief who ran on ending "the same old Washington politics."

New job numbers are out:

The unemployment rate in the U.S. unexpectedly fell to 7.8 percent in September, the lowest since President Barack Obama took office in January 2009, as employers took on more part-time workers.
